The Green Room was started late in 2007 as just a series of casual jam sessions between Joe Sheehan and Jake Lustig. The two found they enjoyed playing together and continued to jam together, including the occasional guest musician, for just over two months. The pair had fun but soon realized they weren't complete without other sounds in the group. They put out an ad for accompanying musicians but soon realized that the talent they needed was right in front of them. They called up former band mates and friends and soon had a solid 6 piece cast, adding on pianist Andrew Elliott, Bassist Aaron Dull, guitarist Steve Redding, and saxophonist Melissa Parsons. The band only still lacked the character and charismatic voice of a vocalist. The spot seemed well filled by their long-time guest-singer, Jack Kreeger, who unfortunately found himself wrenched from the group, living across the country at school.
The band watched themselves blossom as a group, tasting many different genres of music and sculpting their sound in their weekly sessions. Though they limited themselves to no one genre, the group found itself naturally gravitating towards funk, soul, and blues. They eventually formalized their endeavor under the title, "The Green Room," a name rooted in the ambience of the room in which they played, the soft yet biting nature of the color green, and the passion that the color symbolized in their music.
With their studio space just nearing completion, the band is entering the tracking phase to begin to produce a debut EP. Stay tuned for updates on brand new tracks and live shows. For booking, questions, or comments email thegreenroommusic at gmail dot com.
