About me:
Providence Green Scare is a loose knit group that is coming together to work on the issues surrounding the Green Scare. The Green Scare is the term used by activists to describe the recent crackdown of environmental activists who are being targetted as "ecoterrorists" with the latest form of government repression under the PATRIOT act, wiretapping, and Homeland Security. This wave of repression is called "Operation Backfire" by the FBI and the "Green Scare" by activists (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Green_Scare).~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~~
We organize within the philosophy that to be "radical" means getting to the ROOT of oppression, where all systems of oppression are tied together. Our events work to draw connections between various movements, examing how the forces of racism, capitalism, prisons, and environmental destruction interlace and how to resist them.~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~~
Our biggest biggest event and kickoff for a summer of organizing was Freedom Fights on Empire St, which happened on May 27th at AS220.
