Greenstone Quarry is forged out of the hardly strictly bluegrass tradition of San Francisco. While rooted in a bluegrass sensibility, Greenstone Quarry mines a wide selection of blues, folk rock and Americana compositions.
The band is comprised of Paul Lloyd (banjo/vocals), Michael Willingham (mandolin/vocals), Grace Cribbs (vocals), Mike Henry (guitar/vocals) and Matt Lauer (bass/vocals). The band came about when Paul, Mike and Michael left a previous electric jam band and decided to explore their acoustic roots. Paul moved from drums to banjo, Mike went from electric to acoustic guitar and Michael unplugged the mandolin. Grace met the group at some local bluegrass jams and was soon singing with the guys. When Michael enlisted long time musical collaborator Matt, Greenstone Quarry was formed.
Whether at an outdoor music festival, a North Beach club or a San Francisco Mission back porch party, a Greenstone Quarry show is sure to get the place jumping with their energetic musicianship and soaring harmonies.
