The Greenwood Police Department is one of the busiest police departments in central Indiana, handling over 27,000 requests for police service each year. On average, the Greenwood Police communications center receives over two (2) E-911 calls for assistance each hour of the day.
GPD currently has 53 full time sworn officers as well as 20 civilian members. GPD sponsors a variety of special services and programs available to the community which provide information and guidance designed to educate the public about the important issues of interest and concern. Who I'd like to meet: The Greenwood Police Department is seeking information about unsafe, uninsured, Under 21 parties that have been occurring at different temporary locations since the untimely and unfortunate closing of Xxtreme's. The Greenwood Police and Fire Departments are currently investigating an intentionally set fire at Northwest Park during the late evening hours of Friday May 16th, 2008.
There have been a couple other fire related incidents at this park over the last couple of months.
