Born September 25th, 1958, I was a music lover from the start. I began formal music training at the age of 10 starting with alto saxophone. While just a junior at Lackey High School (Indian Head, Maryland), I got my professional start at 15 playing tenor sax locally in southern Maryland. By the time i graduated, i was playing every instrument in the band, focusing primarily on classical tuba and jazz trombone. After three semesters at St Mary's College, I joined Parliament/Funkadelic at the age of 19, where I was the trombonist/arranger for the P-Funk Horns until my retirement in 1996. Since 2002, I've been working with Prince & the NPG as trombonist and horn arranger. Also I'm currently playing trombone with go-go godfather Chuck Brown.
Over the years, I've played with other artists/groups such as Maceo Parker; Bootsy Collins; the GAP Band; Hank Williams, Jr; Beyonce; Lynyrd Skynyrd; Kid Rock; Sheila E; Larry Graham; Stanley Clarke; David Sanborn; P-Diddy; Mike Phillips; RAD.; Bobby Lyle; Richard Smallwood; Third World; Israel Vibrations; Patra; Crystal Waters; Dog Eat Dog, and countless others. Television appearances include Late Night w/ David Letterman, The Tonight Show w/ Jay Leno, The Arsenio Hall Show, Last Call w/ Carson Daly, 1992 and 2004 Grammy Awards, CMT Tribute to Hank Williams, Jr., 2006 NAACP Image Awards, 1996 Rock'n'Roll Hall of Fame Ceremonies, BET on Jazz, and a motion picture appearance in the comedy "PCU".
At the present, I'm undertaking my long anticipated solo project that chronicles my many years of musical influence (just listen to my music from the home page!). Two of the songs are available for download below (with more on the way) at my Music Store. Like what you hear? It's only 99 cents - don't be shy!
