About me:
“This MySpace Page is strictly dedicated to comedy. We only accept Friends who are comedians, those interested in becoming comedians, comedy clubs, comedy organizations, comedy agents and managers, comedy events and festivals and comedy classes (which do not conflict with this workshop.) By being selective, our Friends will not receive any message from product venders, garage bands or women desperate to marry for a Green Card. We’re all about the comedy.”

Greg Dean - The Dean of Comedy

Greg Dean has the longest running stand-up comedy school in America, since 1982. He has trained many American comedy stars including Whoopi Goldberg, Andy Garcia and Elizabeth Payne (Ugly Betty actress) and hundreds of working comedians.

Dean made his living at comedy for over fifteen years, having gigged with Bill Hicks, Robin Williams to name a few and has appeared on Saturday Night Live. He now teaches full time in Southern California as well as internattionally.

Foreword By the Great Steve Allen

How-to books about comedy are a dime a dozen. I’ve written two of them myself. But some are better than others-the present volume, for example, by Greg Dean

A good many of point on which Dean offers instructions are lessons I had to learn the hard way. I wish books of this sort had been available in those days.

Most of us would never dream of offering professional advice to a TV repairman, a brain surgeon, or a defensive lineman for e the Chicago Bears, but we all apparently view ourselves as qualified to offer advice to Eddie Murphy, Jackie Mason or Dennis Miller.

Greg Dean, by way of contrast, know the territory he’s writing about and provides a wealth of nuts-and-bolts advice about the kinds of stories that audiences will interpret as funny. --Steve Allen

Hey there,

Here's one from left field...

Ever wondered what to do in the event of a nuclear threat?

A while ago I found stuff that inspired me to make this film:

Living Under the Shadow of the Nuclear Umbrella

Both artistic (ensure you get the background music!) and educational, it primarily comprises official British government civil defence advice.

Though source materials are quite aged, much remains relevant today.

I encourage all to visit the YouTube page to learn more (Show support! Rate! Comment!) and responsibly circulate as widely as possible, here:

Help to raise awareness.

Say have you checked out my web site recently?

Take care and keep in touch.

Best,
Faber.

hey Greg
Long time, you were the first comedy seminar I ever attended when you were on Hollywood blvd over 12 years ago. Still have notes of yours that I keep. Glad you still teaching it provided a solid foundation for me.
Continued Success.

I read your book several years ago and it did a great job of explaining what a joke is. Thanks for writing it. It helped in my development as a comic.

greg, i just finished the book and it was great. It helped unravel alot of confusion and god willing it will be the one thing that catapults me to super stardom, billions of dollars and a entourage of insanely beautiful women or at least to spliting a few sides.

Hi Greg,

Ironically, I have your book "Step By Step To Stand-up Comedy" sitting right next to my computer. I highly recommend it for all levels of comics. I'm going to re-read it because I want to improve.
