Sounds Like
Greg Hayden.....I really don't know who my music sounds like and I hate to compare it because I think it has its own niche.
With the release of his new album Directions, singer/songwriter, pianist and guitarist Greg Hayden introduces his unique and refreshing approach to songwriting to the world. After many years of searching, Hayden finally gave in to his desire to write and record original music. Directions chronicles and details Hayden’s long struggle with finally deciding to pursue his dream. As a music school graduate and a music educator, Hayden has spent many years performing in a large variety of venues and for many different events, but recently decided to follow the direction of his music with reckless abandon.
Greg Hayden’s music takes a bit of the past and molds it with the sounds of many of today’s contemporary artists. In many of Hayden’s songs, you can clearly hear the soulful melodic influences of artists from the past like Jackson Browne, Gordon Lightfoot, James Taylor, and John Cougar Mellencamp. In those same songs, you can also hear many similarities in the musical lines that resemble sounds from today’s artists like Dave Matthews, Josh Kelley, Jack Johnson and John Mayer. Hayden’s musical influences from the classic rock bands of the late seventies and early eighties can also be heard in many of the rhythmic patterns that drive some of the songs like “Will You Be There” and “The Ride”. In contrast, a song like “Dignity”, shows off Hayden’s ability to write in a complete different style using dry, up front vocals with a steady driving piano part that brings home a message with attitude. Hayden’s ability as an accomplished guitarist, pianist, and vocalist, give him the flexibility to write and produce music that is very diverse. With the debut of Directions, Hayden and his band will be out playing a busy schedule in 08.

What's up brother?! How is all? I went by Mi Patio last night to catch ya'll. I figured you guys didn't play because of the game. There wasn't many in there anyways. Geez, the place has horrible acoustics.
Like the tunes they are really good, wish I would have known when I was still in school at Southeastern. Maybe I'll catch you play sometime in the future!
I'm looking forward to Friday night. It should be a lot of fun. Good luck with recording. You've got one album under your belt, so you should have a better perspective of what you want to do with the next one. Later bro!
I enjoyed the show at the Java Shack (Loco Java) the other night. Ya'll had a really good sound going on, and ya'll seemed to be playing together very well. I'm liking the covers of "KC Moan" and "Washburn Blues". Sorry that I had to bail early. Keep up the good work.
P.S. I'm trying to get motivated to start playing again. Lance has been encouraging me. Ben and a few other friends have been talking about getting together and playing some. Let me know if you still want to do a folk night of some sort at Garrisons. If not maybe we can all just get together somewhere and jam.
Hey Mr.Greg!...Thanks for the add...Y'all sounded great last night!...I'm glad I got to stop by for a few songs...Hopefully I can hear y'all again soon.
