Greg was born and grew up around Richmond, Virginia. After graduating from Manchester High School, he attended Virginia Commonwealth University as a Jazz Studies major. During that time, Greg had a very influential period playing with Ellis Marsalis who was teaching the Small Jazz Group class. Other classmates included James Genus and Clarence Penn. After VCU, Greg spent years working on a cruise ship where he met and and enjoyed musical moments with Tim Lefebvre, Henry Hey, Pete Davenport and Zack Danziger. He also met his wife Laetitia there.
Greg currently lives with his wife, son and daughter in Orlando, florida where he freelances and leads his own group. He also records and teaches in schools as well as privately.
