Making music is a miracle. I push some keys or pull on some strings or push air out of myself and something cool happens. When music is amplified through the channels of mega-and-micro culture, somehow small or large groups of people can feel like they share something that would otherwise be private. That is Magic.
My newest project is finally just called "Greg Dember". It feels more streamlined this way, rather than having a band with its own name. I can perform on my own, or with any different combo of the amazing musicians I'm fortunate enough to know. In terms of the music I've recently recorded, it is fairly diverse in style.... the one thing that holds it all together is ME.
I have released (August 2008) a 12-song CD, called I Don't Know I Think I Fell From The Sky on my own Hieronymus Records label. See the blog, above, for ordering information.
The CD is produced by Matt Brown (Trespassers William) and features notable contributions by drummer James McAlister (Sufjan Stevens) and multi-instrumentalist Leon Dewan (Dewanatron, Flaming Fires, The Happiest Guys In The World).
Nice set on Saturday Greg, very cinematic at times.. and emotional! As I told you.. quite the composition and arrangement going on there! Keep spinnin thy wheels er' matey.
glad ya like it! that was a fun little gathering (and i look forward to many more rousing takes on 'groundhogs day'. have a great birthday, and see ya at the next shindig (probably at the old space, seeing as lena will be out). cheers, tim
funny, i was trying to log in the deepsleep account so i could find tim's page and then yours; i accidentally logged in my own page (which i check seldomly) and saw your message. i know it could have been a much more interesting story, but this is what i got...
Really well done, Greg, I'm impressed! Just when I thought that nobody bothered writing actual songs any longer! If there's any justice left in this world, you'll be troubling the chart-compilers before mid-November!
Thanks for chillin' at the Mainstage! Sorry we didn't have a moment to chat. I got a hockey game at 8:30pm , otherwise I would be there for sure. Have a GREAT show on the 12th!!! Let's get you on stage one of these Tuesday at a time that works for you :) :)
Very good to see you out at my show last Thursday Greg. Thanks for the support & hope to see you out soon. Hope to hear you play a set sometime soon as well. Mainstage is pretty rockin' these days.. just holler if you want a spot. :) hugs, Andie
