Influences
An olive-colored bag of humility and soft spokeness-
with as many curvy thoughts as a fresh sack
of snowflake potatoes.
"Smitten" as much as me, I hope.
Iris' as smooth as her taste for dark beer.
(influences)
-Woodcock Carden.
-The time in-between.
-People crashing on bicycles because their wheel came loose.
-The knowledge that one day I'll get a brown Scottish Terrier and name him Robocop.
-My coveralls.
Authentic tamale concoction, snowdrift kisser on a fat baby swing rendezvous--out of my league homerun.
Soft grappler, humming nameless tunes on 80's carpets. Big-old, when-you-least-expect-it, come-from-behind-win seamstress-- sew what we're reaping--wide-eyed cock's crow, bundle of puzzle bones. Whatever is to transpire... like the longest mornigs and more made to come, just, just enough to convince me.
I think I'm in a band called Sons of Guns. We put out an EP in 2004 and a full-length in 2006... our CD release show at the late Crocodile Cafe in February of 2007 was a densely attended, sweaty triumph. After that I think we played two shows and then stopped.
By then, three out of the four of us lived in different states (an arrangement that varied greatly from once all living in the same house).
And, alas, everyone knows what happens to long distance relationships: They start with the phone calls. "Hey babe, just thinking of yuh, how much I miss you n stuff, and how I'm gonna love you up big in December." Well, December rolls around and all you see is a package in the mail, that when shaken, seems like a box full of photos. They are photos, all of them. Pics of the Whistler trip, Sprnig Break in Cabo, that weekend in Greece, the pumpkin carving session, all the good times, all the memories, and all the porno. You cut your hair, you go shopping, you settle into season five of Sex and the City and you gorge yourself. You puke, you cry, you cuss at the mirror and put lipstick on as eye-liner and eye-liner on as lipstick. You cuss at the mirror more. You drink more. You buy a dog and that doesn't do any good so you sell him for much more than he's worth to support your addiction to Capri Slims and Mike and Ikes. Your friends take it upon themselves to throw you in an enclosed room for three days to cleanse your sprit. You beg for your cosmetics, but you are denied access. Hours before your release, Tom Cruise comes to you in a vision, lifts you up by the collar, looks you dead in the eye and says this: "Life is a super fast jet. So fast and so super, it's like..... FASUPER!!" You awake anew and begin recording your own album. You run into some legal trouble trying to call it "Tom Cruise Said So," and end up going with "The Amazing Circle of Boxes."
I brother. I'm not intentionally holding "your" coffee cup hostage, but if you don't give me an address then I shall act as if I do not know what you are talking about the next time I see you. ka-peesh?
We love everything about you Greg! Especially your multiple speech impediments. Come back soon and lets jam in the "rock cellar". If you dare............
Troubadour status is secure. You really hold the stage all your own. And it was swelteringly-awesome finally getting to share the stage with you...more to come..sooooon!
Wish I could make it out and over this weekend for the festi :( I will be down on the farm in Cali... I'll be there is spirit though, so play one for me :) XOXO
Mistah Gregory Rawlins! How the heck are ya? Just wanted you to know that I watched 'Nature Boy' today and it's just as friggin funny as it was the first time I saw it. Had almost forgotten about it until I saw Mr. Jennings had it posted on youtube. I've shown several of my friends and you've had them all in tears of laughter. :)
Hey Brosey, I just got back from Montana..yup, that's right, your little sis made it all the way there AND back. I think I'm ready to take my training wheels off now. :) I miss you and would love to come down the weekend of the 23rd. Love you bunches, boat loads, and handfuls. Tell Adriene I said 'ello.
Finally read the book you lent me, "The Stranger"... rather sad. But on a good note, I saw a good movie... "The Real Truth About Farmer John". I recommend to you. So, when are you coming down to cali. ?
