Bio
Greg Sczebel is not your typical, twentysomething “soul” singer. If anything, he’s the exact opposite. Or maybe he’s just trying his darndest to bring the soul back to popular music….like when Stevie, Billy, Freddie and The King of Pop reigned on the Hit Parade. This is the type of artist Greg Sczebel aspires to be, and the type of music he works relentlessly to create. Intently staying independent for the past 8 years (despite interest from numerous major US labels), Sczebel chose to pursue longevity over instant fame and determined to earn a respected career the old fashioned way - through hard work, extensive performing and creativity. Still based in the small city and vacation destination of Salmon Arm, BC, Sczebel has gathered national and international recognition in his young career - including a Juno, a Western Canadian Music Award, and two grand-prize awards from Yoko Ono and David Sonenberg’s esteemed John Lennon Songwriting Contest. He has performed numerous times with Grammy Award winners David Foster and Michael Buble, and is a regular keyboard player and background vocalist for multi-platinum selling Country artist, Paul Brandt. He was also recently chosen to write and record a single with Los Angeles producer, Toby Gad, who’s credits include writing and producing Beyonce’s smash hit, “If I Were a Boy” and Fergie's "Big Girls Don't Cry". And that’s the short version of the story of this young blue-eyed soulman with the impossible-to-read last name (for the record, it’s pronounced “Sa-Bell” with a soft ‘a’. Greg Sczebel’s sophomore album, “Love & the Lack Thereof” is available in stores nationwide. -
