I am really into music. I love to make music, listen to music, talk about music, read about music, etc. I love camping with friends. I love snowboarding cooking for friends. I like to play video games (Caleb, your ass is mine at Guitar Hero!!). I love listening to old jazz albums on my record player. I enjoy being around people and having lots of fun.
Music
I love music so much... I'm always interested in checking out new bands, going to see live music, supporting local bands (Yay, Colorado Music Scene!!). As far as my musical tastes go, I would have to say that I am definitly stuck in the 90s grunge movement. My favorite band ever is Pearl Jam. I think that a lot of the grunge bands from the late 80s/early 90s were way ahead of their time. I have always thought that grunge music would make a comeback and even witnessed it watching some new bands recently. If anyone gets a chance, they should check out local band The Varmints (they are amazing!!). Some of my fave bands include: Pearl Jam, Pink Floyd, Miles Davis, Charlie Mingus, Dave Brubeck, Radiohead, Big Head Todd and the Monsters, Jimi Hendrix, The Beatles, Bob Marley, Led Zeppelin, The Velvet Underground, The Ramones, The Clash, David Bowie, The Doors, The Sex Pistols, Etta James, Beastie Boys, Lynyrd Skynyrd (I am a southern girl), Roxy Music, Strung Out, Ozomatli, Toots and the Maytals, Bad Religion, The Cars, and The Jars... just to name a few.
Movies
I am a big Adam Sandler fan and will watch Billy Madison over and over. Not that it's a movie, but I like watching DVDs of Sex and the City. I'm a comedy girl. I like funny movies. Not that many people know this, but I also really like watching Howard the Duck.
Television
I don't have time to watch a lot of TV and there's not really a lot of things on that I would want to. When I am around a TV, I have a bad habit of flipping back and forth between MTV and VH1... even if it's something completely stupid, I'll sit and watch it. And I do like South Park and Family Guy. And for whatever reason, my TV gets a Wyoming channel, so I watch the Smurfs on Saturday afternoons.
Books
I really love to read. I've been in a political mood this last year. I love reading biographies on people that I like or think are interesting. I like to read books about bands, written by bands, or music history. I like anything except cheesy romance novels.
Heroes
In real life, I would have to say that my family (Mom, Dad, and brother) are my heroes. My parents taught me to be very tolerant and open minded, which I am thankful for. My family has also been my biggest supporters in whatever I have chosen to do through life (not that I always make the wisest choices) and it's nice to have that support. Muscially, I am inspired by Miles Davis. I love that he took chances with his musical vision and he was not afraid to experiment and try new things. He was able to really put himself out there.

I realized that I have not updated this thing in over a year and a lot has happened since last year... So let me try to catch you up. I am originally from a super small coal mining town in Kentucky (Yes, it was Cumberland). My family moved to Littleton, CO the summer before I started high school. I graduated from Columbine High School and Colorado State. I am a trumpet performance major (which I did for scholarship, but found out that I really love playing my trumpet) and psychology major (because I thought I needed a degree to fall back on to get a job).
I play trumpet in the ska/reggae band 12 Cents for Marvin and the super funky Caleb Riley Funk Orchestra. I also play with Fort Jazz (an awesome big band in FoCo), and Matt Campbell's Bottom Line Band (amazing singer/songwriter). Somehow I do find a little time in my day to play bass for an all girls Ramones cover band called the Ramonas. Hil (bass player for 12 Cents) is drumming, and our friend Dee is playing guitar. Watch out Fort Collins... we've actually played in town a few times!
I book and promote bands at an awesome venue in Fort Collins, the Road 34 Bike Bar. Let me know if you're interested in playing by e-mail greta@road34.com
I volunteer booking and hosting bands on the radio station KRFC 88.9's Live at Lunch. This has really pushed my boundaries, as I am used to being on the other side of the mic!
I co-founded the Fort Collins Musicians Association with a couple of other local music lovers. We received our 501(c)3 status this year and have big plans for our local musicians. We will be providing lots of network, support, and whatever else we can for our Fort Collins musicians, scene, and community!
I am also writing a local music blog for Bohemian Nights. If you want to check it out, you can find it at http://www.bohemiannights.org
I moved to Hawaii for a couple years after I graduated from college. I love hanging out with friends and have been lucky to have made lots of great friends in all the places I have lived (and kept in contact with them... if only a couple times a year). What an awesome suprise life ends up being...
