Their debut album ’The Edge of Every-thing’ has been released  last year in the US by prestigious label Decca/Universal and now, finally, Greta’s Bakery is back in Europe. The ‘Bakery’ has been compared to the greates bands and singers as such as Sade, Michael Jackson, Swing out Sister, Steely Dan, Flora Purim, but it’s clear since the first listen that this band has its own musical personality and a very refreshing sound. "Stir together ingredients ranging from jazz to reggae-infused pop. Read more about the Tour...

Fantastic new CD Debut from Greta's Bakery!..

Back in the mid ‘80s girl groups like Bananarama, and more so-phisticated Euro-flavored pop-jazz singers Anna Domino and Sade, were all the rage. Twenty years later, one new NYC based group with a new kind of multi-culti kind of pop / jazz viewpoint is Greta’s Bakery. Featuring Italian born vocalist Greta Panettieri, bas-sist/guitarist Mike LaValle with Andrea Sammartino on keys, on the release of their 2010 album entitled, The Edge Of Everything, the group blend an upbeat, lounge music kind a vibe that sometimes even spotlights Greta singing in her native tongue. Commenting on the CD, Ms. Panettieri adds, 'I think it’s a bit of a complex album, and it definitely reflects our different backgrounds and the different kinds of music that we like. But more than anything else, it’s a pop album. I think that it’s very easy to like, but I also think that it works on a deeper level, because of the composing and arranging.' There’s a great mix of bouncy pop and Brazilian / Euro style lounge flavored jazz sounds in play while the most upbeat tracks also cross over into dance music with style and flair. While featuring mostly original tracks on the eleven cut album, Greta’s Bakery also works in several well chosen covers from the pens of noted song writing greats such as Jules Shear and Diane Warren. Don't miss it!

Greta's Bakery: The Edge Of Everything

Satisfied customers have savored the tasty treats of Greta’s Bakery all around the world. The band has sampled their goods on tour with Joe Jackson across Europe and sated the appetites of the most critical Gothamites in the Lower East Side of New York City. The three main chefs—Greta Panettieri, Mike LaValle, and Andrea Sammartino—stir together ingredients ranging from jazz to reggae-infused pop. Experiencing their songs is like discovering a familiar flavor with a new zest. Listeners who haven’t stepped inside the aromatic world of Greta’s Bakery are in luck, for the tasty menu of items on The Edge of Everything is available for worldwide delivery. Food metaphors aside, Greta’s Bakery infuse the 2010 pop landscape with a fresh and fairly exceptional debut. Panettieri’s voice is an instrument that knows no boundaries on the scale. “Give Up the Ghost”, an indispensable cut, hints at the singer’s jazz orientation and penchant for spontaneous scatting that mark the band’s mesmerizing stage shows. Their cover of OutKast’s “Prototype” honors the spirit of the source material, but draws upon the strength of the band’s own original style. That style evolves through a few permutations, from the rousing “What You See Is What You Get” to the festive “Pizzicarella” to a trans-continental marriage between the language of Italy and the melodic properties of Brazilian music on “Aurora”. The stunning “Hard to Read” boasts such a sophisticated musicality that Greta’s Bakery introduces about about four distinct flavors in under four minutes. Sweet and savory, Greta’s Bakery serve up the perfect palate cleanser for listeners of all musical persuasions.

Greta's Bakery on The Edge of Everything

New York trio Greta's Bakery serves up warm, enticing pop/jazz with a sweetening of electronics on their forthcoming major label debut On the Edge of Everythingarriving March 30 digitally via Decca. Led by vocalist Greta Panettiere (panettiere = bakery in Italian), the rhythmic backing swings and sways like a summer dress in a sultry beach breeze. We first caught GB in a small Lower East Side club over a year ago, drawn by Greta's inviting, inventive singing and the gently soulful vibe at play. Everything captures the Bakery's cool Euro-pop of their live performances while decorating the band's sound with a glossy Steely Dan-styled sheen. We especially like the Swing Out Sister-ish title track bright as well as the smartly dressed "Prototype", adorned with Philly International strings, a scat/synth duet and sweet bass line. "Useless", meanwhile, lets Panettiere's plaintive, airy vocals float above the sublimely mellow, glistening instrumental bed eventually building to a dramatic finish. Lead single "If This Ain't Love" will be available mid-January. Recommended.
