Gretchen Wolff is a classically-trained singer and pianist, and a self-taught guitarist. Her songwriting combines influences of roots Americana, jazz, pop, and folk, brought to life on stage and in the studio by her exceptional skill and artistry as a performer. Intensely focused on musical and artistic growth, she has built her life around a career as a full-time musician, developing her talent in a wide variety of musical styles. Her newest recording, "A Fireside Christmas" (slated for release in December) marks her first collaboration with tenor Greg Grobis. Featuring a variety of musical styles from traditional classical to jazz- and folk-influenced contemporary, the record presents an elegant, intimate aesthetic, like a cozy Christmas sing-along at home around the fire. Gretchen holds a Master of Music Degree in Vocal Performance from Oakland University. She is the pianist and a vocalist in the National Shrine of the Little Flower Church Folk Group, is the soprano section leader in the Shrine Parish Choir, and is the guitarist and a vocalist in the Shrine Saturday Evening Quartet. In addition, she gives private voice and piano lessons in her home studio, performs as a singer-songwriter in a number of public and private venues, is a guest soloist and chorister for several area churches, teaches music classes in a Montessori preschool, has sung with Michigan Opera Theatre, and has participated twice in the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions. Studio album in the works. I love to write songs, and I love to play and sing. I've been working on this project for quite a while. I want this to be a really good album, and I have a great team in place that's helping me make that happen.

I'm a working musician in the Metro Detroit area. I'm a classically-trained singer, and hold a Master of Music Degree in Vocal Performance. I am also a professional pianist and guitarist. I teach preschool music two mornings a week. I give private lessons in voice, piano, and guitar. Contact me if you are interested in lessons. I also do private parties, church services, and wedding ceremonies.

My work week is typically enjoyable and interesting; every day is different and filled with a variety of great people and experiences. I am fortunate to support myself doing something I love, things I couldn't imagine not doing, and for that I am boundlessly grateful.
