Greyleaf is a not just a name it's more of a feeling. It's about when you are out with your friends and the people you love and want to have a good time and relax. Our good time feeling comes from a group of musicians rooted in the Fox Valley. The birth of Greyleaf was spawned by jam sessions that started in 2005 and eventually evolved from two members to the current line-up. The sound you will hear has diverse influences from our many backgrounds. The combination of rock, funk, blues, and reggae come together to an create an inviting sound all of their own.
Greyleaf is an avid supporter of the community and enjoys playing special events for positive causes as well as the numerous bars, coffee shops, festivals across the Midwest and parties throughout the area. The debut album, titled "Redemption" was recorded at Rock Gardens Studio and released December 28th, 2007. Hard work paid off when Greyleaf received a WAMI (Wisconsin Area Music Institution) Nominee for Best New Band in 2008. Through our extensive catalogue of original music and cover songs Greyleaf show slowly turn into lively sing-a-longs. Greyleaf is consistently improving and expanding their original music to make themselves worthy of their accomplishments.
Keep your eyes peeled for up-coming shows!
////Nick L........
Carrying the load, lead vocals, rhythm guitar, harmonica, mc, and main songwriter of the band, Nick blends a mixture of blues inflections and syncopated rhythms creating a foundation for the rest of the band to follow.
////Nick R........
When Nick’s playing the electric guitar, especially late at night, keep the children at home. This shamelessly lewd and lewdly shameless style of play is not meant for the faint of heart. Nick also contributes much of the original material and sings pretty background vocals.
////Ben........
Ben started out blowing his horn for the sheer love of music. But, shortly thereafter began adding his influence of piano, organ, synthesizer, and vocals. Ben has been able to grow as a musician and shows no signs of slowing down.
////Erik S......
Moonlighting as a semi-professional chess boxer, the fruits of his trade have borne him a bass, amplifier and speaker. His so called 'fringe' methods by some, i.e. studying an army of monkeys each with its own bass guitar, has proven to be a veritable font of information, gaining him much insight with bass technique. Quoted as saying "Some study Bach, Mozart, McCartney, Entwhistle or Squire. I say, a million monkeys can't be wrong", he seems to be completely incoherent, yet able to melodically molest a bass guitar with the best of them.
////Brian H........
A master of every percussive sound, from whisper to roar, Brian can build a fire under any kind of group, no matter what the time signature. He is a marvel of technical dexterity and musical imagination. Brian brings out the best in his companions. You can always expect the unexpected from this dapper erstwhile Bostonian. Other drummers may win polls, but they come to hear-and learn from-Brian Harrah, Mr. Taste himself... ...Just kidding, he really only knows like one or two rock beats.
It’s hard to believe, but FGC’s only Wisconsin show of the fall is this Thursday 10/29 at the Miramar Theater in Milwaukee. We’re planning on making it a good one, so hope to see you there!
In other news, FGC is very excited about the band's new Video Blog, a weekly series featuring a behind the scenes look at FGC performances and touring. Check out the YouTube playlist for the last few editions, and stay tuned for more in the coming weeks!
There is currently a search for two types of bands for record label consideration.
*** Note: PLEASE IDENTIFY IF YOU ARE IN GROUP 1 OR 2 IN THE SUBJECT LINE OF YOUR RESPONSE. Emails are being reviewed by different representatives.
1. A Pop/Rock/Commercial band with female lead. Band must consist of 2 guitars (Prefer both guitar players to be of lead caliber. However, one lead and one rhythm is acceptable), keyboard/piano, bass, and drums. Lead vocal, followed by backing vocals, in that order, is a plus as it relates to other members of the group. Average age of the band cannot exceed 28 years of age.
* Group must have an outstanding lead vocalist. ** Musicianship throughout the entire band must be very strong. *** Group cannot currently be under any contract of any type that is related to the music industry.
2. A Modern Rock band with male lead. Must be a complete band but there are no prerequisites as it relates to the make up of the band. Average age of the band cannot exceed 23 years of age.
* Group must have an outstanding lead vocalist. ** Musicianship throughout the entire band must be very strong. *** Group cannot currently be under any contract of any type that is related to the music industry.
