Ya know, as I approach hell week, I ask myself, "what would a Gridiron Nazi do?" And ya know, no one answers me. But yabetcha, I'd be gathering up my costumes (okay, I haven't had a real costume since 2002). I'll see you guys real soon, yabetcha.

    Hey, who's online?! ;)

Just wanted to say ... I didn't know I'd love performing in Gridiron quite this much.
Shoulda jumped in years ago! Thanks for this opportunity! And thanks for working so hard on the show! <3

OH!!! I almost forgot!!! I came to the site in the first place to say, "Come see Rocky Horror Show at Manoa Valley Theatre. Now extended thru August 3rd.
    "

Okay, that officially makes me the bigger dork...

How is it that you are always online in the middle of the day? Do you NOT have a day job like the rest of us miserable souls?! :)

    Hi fellow Griddites!

As most of you already know, Scott "Scooter" Ishikawa will be leaving DOT (May 2 is his last day) and starting with Bright Light Marketing.

Keep the night of Saturday, May 10, open!

The "Scooter Ishikawa Karaoke Smackdown" (AKA SIKS) Committee is busy working out the details. Yes, food, drink and song will be involved.

    So too will fun!

Be on the lookout for something official soon!

Do people do things like this just to get in the show?

HONOLULU -- Hospital officials confirmed a horse trotted through Wilcox Memorial Hospital earlier this month.

A spokesman for the hospital said a man called the hospital and said he was going to ride his father's horse into the hospital, where his father was a patient.

"He proceeded to take the horse up the elevator up to the nursing floor where he was met by security and our nurse supervisor," said the spokesman.

The man, who appeared intoxicated at the time, posed for pictures with the horse and an off-duty nurse.

The animal was escorted out of the building after the man's father claimed the horse wasn't his.

oh my, is this a precursor to all of those blasted egg puns in the big show?

All the photos from Saturday's Cat's Final Karaoke Smackdown are loaded on my site now and "free to the public.
    "

So go check 'um out! Although I'm probably going to delete some of the less, um, artistic ones in the next day or so and maybe add a few tags.

Thanks to all those who showed up.
It was indeed a crazy night of fun and I know Cat had a great time too!

Special thanks to Justin for picking up half the tab at 8 Fat without me even realizing it until after he left!

    Thank you Justin!

Auryte! Props to Gordo for putting the Smackdown together. And aloha to Cat! It was good to see everybody (or at least the ones who could make it).

    Aloha gang,

Just a reminder! The Farewell To Toth Karaoke Smackdown Party is tomorrow night!

Please email me if you intend to come (or are even just thinking you may be doing so) if you haven't done so already so we can better plan!

The details are below! I know you gridders have still got those songs in your head like I do so let's wish the Aiona Girl good luck at her new job and get your warbling going!

    Gordon

Cat Toth's Karaoke Smackdown Farewell Party takes place at Krazy Karaoke on Young Street (between Keeaumoku and Piikoi) from 7 to 11 p.m. Saturday.

We'll moving to 8 Fat Fat 8 on the other side of the block, on Beretania, after that!

Please email me to let me know if you can come and how many people are coming with you.
That way we can keep a tally and start stressing out about what to do if too many people join us!

    Here are the details:

    When: Saturday, Oct.
    27

    What time: 7 to whenever!

Where: Krazy Karaoke on Young Street from 7 pm to 11 pm; 8 Fat Fat 8 Bar & Grill from 11 pm

How much: $15 per person (for room rental; any leftover will subsidize the tab at 8 Fat, which gives incentive for you to stay late!)

What to bring: Pot luck food, drinks for yourself and a few others, maybe a jacket or sweater because I'm told the room can get cold.

What will be there: The Krazy Karaoke "Lavender Room" fits 35, and has a sink, long counter, microwave, ice (so bring coolers if you want) and lots of Cat’s friends from the Tiser newsroom, the news biz and the Gridiron crew! (And maybe Cat too if we’re lucky — kidding! She’ll be there!)

Parking: Some parking in the lot. Also, I'm told they have about 30 stalls on the lot between Young and King streets, Diamond Head side of Non-Stop Travel. Enter from King Street. There's also parking along Young.

Smackdown Rules: Plug a maximum of TWO songs into the machine and pass the remote to the next person until it comes back around! No hogging – u

    "Be my friend, Godfather?"

I just invited as many Griddites as I could to be my MySpace friends so please be kind and rewind, I mean, respond!

If I forgot you or didn't recognize you, feel free to invite me!

To give you all incentive, I've posted photos on my page that are viewable to friends only! I'll post rehearsal pics later.

Don't forget to respond about Cat's party Saturday!

    Thanks guys!

Great job, everyone! I feel so blessed to have performed with such a talented, happy group of people.

Next year? 2008: "Gridiron On Ice," featuring singing and dancing on ice skates (except for Chad B; he can wear his jazz slippers ... he might hurt himself when he falls).

    love, cathyc

The Cat Toth Farewell Tour continues!

It's here! Our chance to really whoop it up and send Cat into the tree-hugging world in fine style!

Cat Toth's Karaoke Smackdown Farewell Party takes place at Krazy Karaoke on Young Street (between Keeaumoku and Piikoi) from 7 to 11 p.m. Saturday.

We'll almost certain to move to 8 Fat Fat 8 on the other side of the block, on Beretania, after that!

Please email me to let me know if you can come and how many people are coming with you.
That way we can keep a tally and start stressing out about what to do if too many people join us!

In that case, keep putting in one song at a time until people can’t stand your voice anymore and force themselves to find something to sing for themselves!

Feel free to forward this invite to other Cat friends.
Email or call me with questions!

OK, I did it, albeit under a pseudonym. I've joined the MySpace world.

I'll try to have some neatly organized Gridiron photo folders up by tomorrow and I'll alert you to them when I do!

Right now, it's incomplete and I've got all the blurry and crappy shots in there too so WAIT, LI'DAT!
  • Oct 22 2007 11:05 PM

Gridiron felt like a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Fortunately it isn't, and I look forward to contributing more next year.

And thanks to everyone for such an epic cast party that extended itself to 5 a.m.
    !
