Influences
We grew up listening to the masters of metal from the 70's and 80's, and our goal will always be to focus on the energy and vitality of the best bands from that era, both visually and musically.
GRIFFIN was formed in late 98. After two demos recorded in ..99, we received French Label Season Of Mists attention and they released our first, two full length albums; "Wasteland Serenades"(2000) and "The Sideshow"(2002). In 2003, we inked a deal with the Norwegian label FaceFront, who released our third album entitled "No Holds Barred" in September the same year. This album was co-produced by Alexi Laiho from Children Of Bodom and Sinergy. He also contributed with some guitar and back-up vocals. For the fourth album, the band signed a worldwide deal with Spiritual Beast (excluding Norway which is still FaceFront..s area). This album, entitled "Lifeforce", was produced by legendary King Diamond guitarplayer, Andy LaRocque. "Lifeforce" has a European distribution through Massacre Records.
In 2000, we toured Europe supporting Norwegian black metal act Mayhem, and in the autumn of 2002 we hit the road again with Finnish metallers Sinergy and Swedish death metal legends Dark Tranquility. After the release of No Holds Barred in September 2003, we did a Scandinavian tour with Einherjer, Lumsk and Scariot. In addition to touring, we've also done several single gigs and festivals, including scoring a spot at Wacken Open Air 2004 and supporting W.A.S.P! In 2006 Griffin toured alongside Thunderbolt and legend, King Diamond.

We wish you all a merry Christmas and have decided to add a special song to our profile for the occasion. This is the song that started it all back in 1999. My intension back then was to make a Christmas album for my friends and family. The idea was better than the result, but it made me realize what musical direction I wanted to go. Back then I mainly wrote melodic death metal and was a bit stuck and disoriented. "What Do Gods Get For Christmas" and "Look Through My Eyes" was the first two STIGMA tracks ever recorded. They introduced me to church organs, choirs and everything that STIGMA is about.
Hope you enjoy the song and we hope to see you next year!
