Grimbergen is Nathan Clemence, a miserable and lonely man from the North of England who spent many years living in Scotland in various states of grumpiness and black humour. Having devoted his unfortunate life to the pursuit of post-industrial music in its many forms it was inevitable he would have to try his hand at producing his own efforts. Somewhere between dark ambient, neo-classical and some kind of electronica, Grimbergen attempts to put negative feelings into atmospheric and melancholic music with the vain and foolish hopes that somebody somewhere might just like it.
Formed in Edinburgh 2001, as many as four demos were released, very few concerts were performed and a steadily declining number of not always complimentary reviews were received. With the elusive record deal ever unobtainable, motivation declined and laziness ensued. A relocation to Prague at the end of 2005 encouraged a new start, and as if by magic 2006 finished with a real album release in the pipeline courtesy of the Austrian industrial noise label Steinklang.
Grimbergen - "A Lonely Place", debut album out 24.04.07 on Steinklang Industries.
Update Nov 2007: just relocated to Manchester UK, hopefully a more a location more suitable for getting a few live shows and back home in the grim North! The second album is about three quarters complete and features new features and overall a definite progression.
