Influences.. ..

I write about what I know best, my pathetic, sad, and lonely love life.

Several CT musicians directly, or indirectly, encouraged me to write, and perform, my own songs:

Peter and Julie of The Sawtelles
Bret of  The Jellyshirts
Jess of Maximum Operating Depth

.. ..
Sounds LikeThe Universe tumbling backwards down the stairs after spilling coffee on the cat. Or a reasonable facsimile, thereof. Then again, I was at an acoustic open jam once, a long time ago, and one of the players kept calling me "the blues man." I prefer "acoustic punk."

   About GrimFacts Ed

My name is Ed, and I write songs about the "Grim Facts" of my life. Some of my songs are funny. Some of them have an undercurrent of lost love. I have way too much experience with lost love and unrequited love.

I sometimes call my songs "Family Unfriendly." I don't use profanity, or bathroom humor, but my songs are written for adult listeners. I write about lost loves, broken relationships, divorce, bad dates, and other subjects that adults can relate to. I tend to avoid singing about my ex-wife when there's kids in the audience.

Where can you hear me play? Good question. There's no easy answer. I used to perform at 4-5 open mikes a week. I don't anymore. Most of them suck. Overly loud PA, overly loud inattentive crowds, when there is a crowd, or really bad performers with large egos. I'm tired of all that.

Most Friday nights, I'm usually at the open mike held at the LaSalle Market & Deli in Collinsville CT. And that about it. Some random open mikes here and there, but nothing regular anymore.
