Influences.. ..

I write about what I know best, my pathetic, sad, and lonely love life.

Several CT musicians directly, or indirectly, encouraged me to write, and perform, my own songs:

Peter and Julie of The Sawtelles
Bret of  The Jellyshirts
Jess of Maximum Operating Depth

.. ..
Sounds LikeThe Universe tumbling backwards down the stairs after spilling coffee on the cat. Or a reasonable facsimile, thereof. Then again, I was at an acoustic open jam once, a long time ago, and one of the players kept calling me "the blues man." I prefer "acoustic punk."

   About GrimFacts Ed
.. ..

My name is Ed, and I write songs about the "Grim Facts" of my life. Some of my songs are funny. Some of them have an undercurrent of lost love. I have way too much experience with lost love and unrequited love.

I sometimes call my songs "Family Unfriendly." I don't use profanity, or bathroom humor, but my songs are written for adult listeners. I write about lost loves, broken relationships, divorce, bad dates, and other subjects that adults can relate to. I tend to avoid singing about my ex-wife when there's kids in the audience.

Where can you hear me play? Good question.

Most Wednesday nights, I've been performing at the open mike at Peaberry's Cafe in Simsbury CT.

Most Friday nights, I'm usually at the open mike held at the LaSalle Market & Deli in Collinsville CT.

The rest of the week, I hide at home with my cats, or I go to other open mikes picked at random.

Hi Ed - how's it going? I'm playing at the Cambridge House on 9/13 with the Bus Drivers trio... It's all covers but quite fun stuff.
Drop in and say hi if you're in the neighborhood! Take care - Joe

Great show yesterday, my man! You sound really good with a drummer. Once again, I stepped on about half my tunes. I need to get back to the open mic's, polish the thing a little bit. (long sigh) maybe this is just not a healthy place for struggling musicians that don't play shitty cover songs.
oh well, you kicked ass yesterday!

Grimfacts Ed Hoyer, and others
August, 23 2008 at Serenity
523 Main Street
Torrington, CT
Cost : $7.00

Look at this. I remember the good old days when you could see all the Ed Hoyer Jr. you wanted for free. Now that everyone's gotten hooked you're going to start charging people for their fix.
I read your book you magnificent bastard!
