Sounds Like
"Grinny Grandad are maybe a band who signal the future for music, bringing together a range of sounds, inspirations and contributors to create their unique style of music - a mix of soul, funk, dance, and elements of countless more genres."
- Rachel Wade, BBC
“I’ve not heard drums played with such power and feeling since Jon Bonham of Led Zeppelin- an extraordinary band."
- Tom Robinson, BBC 6 music
"Monty by Grinny Grandad has something that you just can't resist. It had what I look for in a track - vibe, energy and originality."

"Good Girl is one cool tune!"
- Craig Charles, BBC Radio 6
Imagine Mr Scruff drinking cups of tea with The Chemical Brothers whilst babysitting DJ Yoda and you might start to come close to the sounds infused by Grinny Grandad. Based on the 'scissors and string' mind of Chris Morton, these guys fuse surreal references with old school record-crate creativity and come out of it with an infectious brand of subterranean pop that makes you feel good deep down inside.
Although still relatively new to the music scene and modest to the hilt, Grinny Grandad boast a respectable record of success. In only two years they have managed to secure a publishing deal with Logical Publishing in association with Finger Lickin Records and have had their music featured on the ever popular Grand Theft Auto games and European documentaries such as Rec Mag.
Grinny Grandad have, as a collective, played alongside Forward Russia, Shy Child and The Arctic Monkeys and have also worked with Drumattic Twins (Finger Lickin Records) in December 2007 on their double A side single, Broken Planet/ Can't Give You Up which was released in March 2008. With that and a remix by one of the UK's leading producers, DJ A Skillz (Finger Lickin Records) due later this year there is no denying that this is the band that people will inevitably spend their lunch money, wages and, God forbid, giro on to go see. A definate signal of things yet to come.

we're headlining the Well in Leeds next Saturday night (31st July) Other bands on the bill are The Longshots Die Video Die Chateau Berber and The Wick Effect this is our last Leeds gig for a while so it would be nice to see all you Leeds folk if you can make it
With the World Cup in full swing, we'll be "kicking off" July in style (hur hurr) with our first ever gig at Stereo, York - well actually that's not strictly true, we played there in its former incarnations as Cert 18 and The Speakeasy, but we've yet to grace their newly-refurbished stage and push the limits of their spanking new sound system... anyway, I digress!
Get yourselves down to Stereo on Gillygate, Thursday 1st July at 8pm for a right mixed bag of talent courtesy of Shattered Glass Media:
TestTone3 - synth-rock with phat beats and BIG riffs Saving Time! - upbeat and bouncy pop-punk RetroFlame - indie-rock blend with a bit of alternative thrown in Martin Wainwright - the man, the myth, the acoustic legend!!
Hiya We’ve a couple of gigs coming up in Leeds and York that we hope you can make.
First we’re playing at the New Roscoe in Leeds on the 27 June, there are 4 bands on and its only £3 on the door the fun starts at 8pm.
Secondly we’re playing a short acoustic set at the Basement Bar in York on the 2nd July with the Brilliant Suzy Bradley and Morning After and the equally amazing Hall Brothers - not to be missed.
Dude! Where can I get a butchers at your lovely new Grinny Merchandise? I might want to drink tea from my Grinny Mug whilst wearing my Grinny T-Shirt and admiring my Grinny Fridge Magnet! :)
Hey I don't mean to bother you and I really don't like sending these, but I feel like it's the only way to get anybody to listen. We have an ep available and an album called Harlem that we are both very proud of. It would be awesome if you could give us a listen and let us know what you think even if it's not for you. And if you don't listen that's okay too. Sorry again and thank you. from swimteam
Hi Grinny Grandad, I relentlessly desire cotton candy lollipops. How can I help but use your eyes as a means for self-asphyxiation? The expanse of your beauty is a void no universe could ever fill. You turn the atmosphere ablaze with currents of sweet ethylene when you smile. I keep searching for you between the cushions. If I could have just one wish, it would be to wake up to your songs in the morning. I love your eyes, I know they can stare through my thoughts. Your hair sends forth a sheen remniscent of golden sunlight winding through shadows. The music that flows from your instruments overwhelms me with creativity. I desire to see life through your hallucinations so that they massage my viscera into an eternal state of turgid flux. The elves that play in the toasters wash their drum sticks in honey and sing strikingly colored anthems in perfect harmonious pleasure. Entranced by the sweet harmony of your lips, I gaze beyond reason to find the oasis of your brilliant soul. So charmingly silky, your skin is like a teardrop on a popsickle.
