"Grip" is a short (45 min.) psychological thriller which delves into the nature of infidelity and the destruction of the psyche. It will force you to question your own judgment and morals as you watch the lead character's descent in to madness.
Our title character, David Walker (played by Terry King) is married to the stunning and bodacious Kim (Sonja Flaherty). But their marriage is not what it used to be. David is experiencing a great deal of stress from work, which we all know can strain any relationship. Coupled with his drinking (I love hobbies!) and his wife's hunt for some alternative meat (pardon the pun), you just know he is going to snap!
The film is narrated by our main character, and the story is delivered to the audience in flash-back form. This actually enhances the character development. The acting is superior. Terry King does an excellent job portraying a man slipping into darkness as he suspects his wife of cheating. It is what you would anticipate of any ordinary person in real-life who is actually contemplating murder. Sonja Flaherty is very pragmatic as a wife who is capable of lying and cheating while still professing her love for David. Let me pause for one second while I throw professionalism out the window….Good Lord! Holy S*%t! She is the most gorgeous actress I have seen on the screen! Not a single flaw! And you get to see quite a bit of that gorgeous bare skin! Made me howl like a wolf!....Whew, had to get that out. The supporting characters in the film also do an impressive job with their lines and acting ability.
Grip easily mixes in elements of drama, horror, suspense, and comedy all within its brief running time. It gives you many elements to look forward to. Try to figure out "the man in white." Enjoy the tidbits of comedy… " I thought it was important to document our divorce!" This being said while Sonja is tied to a chair with a video camera in front of her. And the two detectives cracked me up! Watch the drama unfold before your eyes of David's misery and "meaningless life." There is something here for everybody! Congrats go out to Mr. Atkins, all the actors, and crew for a job well done! Highly recommended viewing here! DP
