I gripweed. nascono nel 2002, alla fine di un percorso che vede i membri della band cimentarsi in diversi contesti e sperimentazioni musicali. Il gruppo prende il nome dal personaggio omonimo interpretato da John Lennon nel film di Richard Lester del 1966 "How I Won the War".
Dopo anni di ricerca e affinamento sonoro, i gripweed. registrano nel 2004 il demotape "A Solid Castle of Sand", costituito da una tracklist di tre brani realizzati in studio e uno registrato dal vivo. Nello stesso anno viene girato il videoclip di Fatty, una delle canzoni contenute nel demo. Il video permette alla band di arrivare alle finali del concorso "Music for Eyes" di Perugia. Ma i gripweed. non si fermano a questo evento: continuano ad esibirsi in diversi concerti e prendono parte a vari altri contest. Nel 2005 vede la luce il secondo demo "The Unexpected e.p.", comprendente quattro tracce studio e un remix a cura di Appleyard College, one-man band dell'amico Luigi Porto. Nell'Aprile del 2005 i gripweed. dividono il palco con le Client a Siderno (RC): il gruppo comincia a far conoscere la propria musica a una fetta pi.. ampia di pubblico, anche grazie alla pagina creata e lanciata in rete su MySpace. I consensi aumentano e i tre si ritrovano nel Dicembre 2005 ad aprire il concerto dei Chikinki a Cosenza e nel Marzo 2006 incontrano nuovamente in scena le Client. Ormai pronti per la realizzazione di un vero album, i gripweed. cominciano a registrare i demo di presentazione del lavoro che verra'. Il primo risultato di questo nuovo progetto e' "Thrice", un ep di 3 brani realizzato a Giugno del 2006 e messo a disposizione in rete per l'ascolto. A fine ottobre e' uscito il loro quarto EP, intitolato "A Tale Is Just a Lie".

gripweed. are an Italian electro-indie band. Their story actually begins some time before they decided to name themselves after the character performed by john lennon in "How I won the War", a movie by Richard Lester. In the shadowy and empty corners of a small village in the Italian Far South, the band realized they had to raise their game musically. Comprised of vocalist cristian rosa, guitarist alberto la riccia and bassist lucantonio pignataro, gripweed. made their live debut in 2002. Scoring with an intimate style , a view on autobiographical features and movie fascinations, they self-produced in 2004 their first demo, A Solid Castle of Sand , and in the same year they released a videoclip for Fatty. Later, they went straight to last rounds of Music for eyes contest in Perugia.
In 2005, gripweed. struck the chords audience by The Unexpected ep, their new sparkling self studio production featuring a special remix from Appleyard College, Luigi Portos one-man-band project.
During their many local gigs, they had the chance to share the stage with client (a gem of Andy Fletchers) and Chikinki, the electrobeat band signed with Island Records.
Got ready for a new recording by now, gripweed. are working on showcase demos about their new incoming production. Thrice is the first issue, a three-track-ep not for sale but available on the web for a free streaming sample.
