NEW
BAND OF THE WEEK! Insound staffers seek out new music constantly.
Between the hundreds of music submissions we get per week and the new
bands and labels we're always reaching out to, we stumble upon some
really great stuff. Each week, we will be picking one lesser-known band
that we particularly love. This week, Andy Nystrom walks down the aisle
with Brooklyn's own Grooms.
There is nothing we like better than when a hometown band comes along
that we can get really excited about. Coming out of Brooklyn, NY,
Grooms are set to drop their debut record on the Death by Audio
collective on October 20th, and we couldn’t be more stoked.
The trio started making waves a few years ago under the name
the Muggabears, and since their inception in 2004 they have been honing
and refining their breed of noise pop, sometimes setting a gloomy
drone-scape and then quickly switching to clean guitar melodies. Grooms
will keep you on your toes, keeping you guessing as to what their next
move will be.
Highly recommended for fans of 90s era-Sonic Youth and a must see live.
They have a bunch of CMJ shows coming up, so if you happen to be
attending this year’s festival, make sure you get to see the band that
everyone will be talking about.
