Influences
As if you didn't already know by now, GROOVE DADDIES are just a small part of a larger and very dedicated group of people from all over the world who share a deep love and appreciation for the fairer sex. We also love music, food, and of course, the occasional drinkie-poo. The cumulative result of all this love is a live musical experience that's mostly about sex, food, and libations. In addition to our own ostentatious original offerings, we're serving up a steamy smörgåsbord of Allman Brothers, Blues Brothers, Doobie Brothers, Isley Brothers, Neville Brothers, Vaughan Brothers, Los Lonely Boys, Popa Chubby, Buddy Guy, Sir Douglas, Marshall Tucker, Van Morrison, Bob Seger, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Little Feat, Little Milton, Little Stevie Wonder, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Sam & Dave, Al Green, James Brown, James Gang, Earth Wind & Fire, Elvis, Animals, Beatles, Rascals, Rolling Stones, Randy Newman, Susan Tedeschi, Tubes, Temptations, Commodores, Cannonbal Adderley, Average White Band, The Band, Motown, Tiny Town, Storyville, Sea Level, Spirit, Arc Angels, Ray Charles, Otis Redding, Rufus Thomas, Robben Ford, Eddie Floyd, Eric Clapton, Delbert McClinton, Albert Collins, Joe Cocker, Joe Walsh, John Hiatt, Jonny Lang, Johnny Cash, Johnny Nash, Jimmy Rogers, Roger Miller, Mitch Miller, Mitch Ryder, Robert Palmer, Wilson Pickett, Wet Willie, Neil Young, and a whole lotta R&B, Rock, Funk and Blues.
Sounds Like
See the list of folks above? Just like that, only with our own spin on it.
GROOVE DADDIES were formed in 1990 from the ashes of 'A Flock of Tooters'. Way before that, Gary was in the 'Reindeer Army' (that'll take you back), Brian was in 'Cats On Holiday', Jeff and Ed were in 'Big Business', Sean was in 'The Reign', and Eric was in 'City Limits'. In the last 19 years they've played all the major (and some not so major) fairs, festivals, celebrations, expositions, commemorations, memorializations, frolics, fetes, fiestas, balls, bacchanals, jubilees, jamborees, hullabaloos, hooplas, hootenannies, galas, sprees, shindigs, wingdings, bashes, blasts, and blowouts hosted here in the tri-county area. They've also played in bars. A lot of bars. Some of them are still open for business.
Generally, all this accounting is only interesting to chroniclers of rock lore, so if you really want to know one of the guys' history, just come up to him at a show and see how much he remembers.
