Four endless years Groove Galaxi have spent on a mission into infinite space. The band which travelled the globe with it's typical vision of dancefloor jazz as the live act of the legendary Mojo Club is now back from outer space. They have landed in the USSR - and they've brought the Beatles with them. The cool and sleazy reduction of "Back In The USSR" could aswell honour “King Tubby”.

"On The Couch" follows a similar path, the trumpet squeeks and bubbles, the organ roars and wobbles, the drums stumble and yet keep the music together, clever and refreshingly different, maybe the best songs of the band from Hamburg ever...
On top of that you get a remix of another part of the family: Energie Du Verre spins the USSR through a wormhole, the result is a slick up tempo monster dub version for the Headz. With an
eyewinking offsideness that would make “Fat Freddies Drop” happy!
Die 1999 gegründete Band hat in den letzten 10 Jahren 4 Alben und eine EP veröffentlicht. Mehr als 200 Konzerte gespielt und musikalisch eine vielfältige Entwicklung durchlebt. Neben den beiden Gründungs-mitgliedern Markus Kuczewski und Sönke Düwer, hat Groove Galaxi unter vielen weiteren Gästen vor allem mit dem Saxophonisten Stefan Kuchel und den beiden Trompetern Stephan Meinberg und Claas Ueberschär, mit dem Sönke Düwer später auch gemeinsam im Ensemble Du Verre spielte, gearbeitet.
Die erste wichtige Station der Band war das Zusammentreffen mit dem Berliner Jazzlabel Traumton und dessen Produzent Wolfgang Loos. Im Jahr 2000 nahm die Band dort im hauseigenen Studio ihren Erstling "Groove Galaxi" (erschienen 2001) auf. 2002 folgte das Album "Interstellar Hi-Fi Patrol".
Von da an ging die Band eigene Wege und produzierte "Back On Deck". Dieses Album erschien 2003 bei SPV/Fante Records. Auf diesem Album setzen sich starke Tendenzen zur elektronischen Clubmusik durch. 2005 folgte dann "Sunburst On Betelgeuse". Dieses Album wurde von Batterie Du Verre produziert und stellt gleichzeitig das Ende der Zusammenarbeit mit SPV dar.
Jetzt, im Jahr 2009, erscheint die EP "Back In The U.S.S.R.". Ein Titel den Groove Galaxi jahrelang im Live-Programm spielte, der aber nie veröffentlicht wurde. Das gleiche gilt auch für den Track "On The Couch".
GG kehrt hier zu seinen musikalischen Wurzel zurück.
Für das nächste Jahr ist eine weitere EP geplant. Man darf gespannt sein.
