love playing cello and flatpicking my guitar, I love snowboarding in deep powder, I love hiking through mountains and swimming in glacier pools and waterfalls, I love camping with good friends and instruments. Bluegrass and music festivals are always a blast (Telluride Bluegrass Festival was amazing!) I think little kids are the most exciting thing of all and I love all my little cousins and nephews and nieces dearly. I like funny movies, and I love cooking delicious Indian and Thai food.

About me: My name Kieran is pronounced like keyring without the g. It means 'ray of light'...something I've always wanted to be.
I've been blessed with many amazing experiences in my life....studied in Normandy France for a year, explored pyramids in Egypt, missionary work in rural Tanzania, spent 10 days in silent meditation, was Pops Staples's personal chauffeur, hitchhiked around Israel, hung out with Julius Nyerere, worked at Smithsonian Folkways Music Archive, worked in Yellowstone for a summer, and got to hang out with Doc Watson for a little while.
I play cello, guitar, and some piano. The music that I play is based on the traditional stringband music of the Appalachian mountains….I love the sound of frailing banjos, funky cellos, flatpicked fiddle tunes, and lilting melodies, jigs and reels, waltzes, stomps and breakdowns. Some of my music can be heard on my music myspace and on my website... www.kieranmcmanus.com.
