The Groovy Eldorado featuring Demon Shy Ensemble was formed in in Helsinki, Finland in the summer of 2003 by the Helsinki-based artist-musician Alvar Gullichsen. The project was named after a painting by Gullichsen titled Presenting Groovy Eldorado featuring Demon Shy (oil on canvas, 55 x 55 cm, 2003). The title was inspired by co-founder Rafael Rybczynski, active music business professional and artist-producer since 1992 in the field of electronica, jazz and world music. From the summer 2005 on the orchestra is named THE GROOVY ELDORADO ENSEMBLE.
