Well, there's the Beatles. Then there's everything else.
Lately I've been getting into downtempo electronica. Chill music. Like The Chillcast with Anji Bee.
Movies
I like a pretty broad range of movies. Everything from the Marx Brothers to Welles to Tarantino to Apatow to Hal Hartley; from the better summer flicks to the art-house stuff to the best foreign work.
My criteria for a film is it doesn't suck.
Television
Dexter, Weeds, Mad Men, Entourage (guilty pleasure), The Office. And how can I forget Californication!
Oh, and reality tv is schisse.
Books
Here's where I really out myself. 'The Power of the Actor' by Ivana Chubbuck, 'Story' by Robert McKee, 'God Passes By' by Shoghi Effendi, 'The Dawnbreakers' - Nabil's narrative history, 'Love in the Time of Cholera' by Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Groucho Marx's books, Woody Allen's compilations of essays, Shakespeare's comedies & tragedies (just haven't been able to embrace his histories), all things Adib Taherzadeh, all things William Sears, 'It's not Your Fault' by Patricia Romano McGraw, 'A Whack on the Side of the Head' and 'A Kick in the Seat of the Pants' by Roger Von Oech, Roger White's poetry, Ruth Foreman's poetry..... Amongst the classics, I also like the American Romantics (light and dark) - Emerson, Thoreau, Melville, Poe, Dickinson, Hawthorne..... Not a thorough list, but a start.
Heroes
Quddus, Mulla Husayn, Groucho Marx, Charlie Kaufman, Christopher Walken, Orson Welles....

Some say the world will end in fire, Some say in ice. From what I've tasted of desire I hold with those who favour fire. But if it had to perish twice, I think I know enough of hate To say that for destruction ice Is also great And would suffice.
Boy, if you were not my friend, I would so not sit through how FRIKKIN long it takes for this page to load all its graphics and crap. :-( BLECH. --Miche
Hello Mike.. Long time Cafe survivor!!! Thanks for finding me and adding me to your site. I am finally selling my film MYSELF!!! I set up my own distribution company and I am selling the DVD's off my web site.
I am donating $5.00 from every sale to THE AMERICAN VETERANS DISABLED FOR LIFE MEMORIAL FUND. The film is supporting a great cause, kind of give something back to the country. Hope all is well with you and your projects. Never give up no matter what. If you see anyone still from the cafe, give them my best wishes. - Jack/Flynn35
MPP is the largest marijuana policy reform organization in the United States. Founded in 1995, MPP works to minimize the harm associated with marijuana -- both the consumption of marijuana and the laws that are intended to prohibit its use. MPP believes that the greatest harm associated with marijuana is prison. To this end, MPP focuses on removing criminal penalties for marijuana use, with a particular emphasis on making marijuana medically available to seriously ill people who have the approval of their doctors.
MPP doesn't encourage marijuana use. But our failed marijuana laws cost taxpayers billions of dollars a year, keep police from focusing on real crimes, and fail to keep marijuana away from kids. We believe it's time for a new approach-- taxation and regulation.
Sincerely,
The Marijuana Policy Project

Support this bill... even if you are from out of state... help us win it for California, and watch the movement spread. California can lead the way for America with TRUE Universal Health Coverage---not phony schemes that use public funding for private insurance companies to continue business as usual. Only SINGLE PAYER can cut costs and improve quality of care. And only a huge public outcry will make it happen.
For all those in California who are reading this, we especially need your help. This is a true grassroots effort, folks! Sign up now to be a part of the solution!
