As you know, planning for the 4th Annual "Weathering the Storm" Tribute to Black History Weekend is in full swing and we are inviting you to be a part of this annual tradition as we plan to make this year the biggest and best yet!.
Weathering the Storm Youth Outreach and Ground Floor Entertainment is proud to present the 4th Annual "Weathering the Storm" Tribute to Black History Weekend,a dynamic and electrifying event that will feature some of the most talented youth and performers in the world. This 1-day event being held at the Harry Stone Recreation Center in Dallas, TX kicks off Saturday, February 21, 2009 with an Annual Hip Hop Parade, Health Expo, Celebrity Basketball Game and Youth Fashion Show. Other activities include musical entertainment and awards ceremony. The event will also be a premiere fundraising charity event for a very important organization,
WEATHERING THE STORM YOUTH OUTREACH!
Ever wonder what happens to children in foster care when they turn 18? Studies documented the serious challenges facing many youth who age out of foster care. 1 in 4 will be incarcerated within two years of leaving foster care, 1 in 5 will become homeless, only half will graduate from high school, and less than 3 percent receive college degrees. W.T.S. Youth Outreach assists young people who have aged out of the foster care system without a permanent family. They also provide services for displaced youth who have suffered from natural or man-made disasters including floods, hurricanes, earthquakes, fires, tornadoes and terrorist attacks. Each young person participates in services to aid with housing, employment, education, managing relationships and mental health issues.
Ground Floor Entertainment has partnered up with Weathering the Storm Youth Outreach, Anna's House, Black United Fund of Texas, Texas Teen Summit, Urban Theater and other organizations in a collaborative effort to contribute to this exceptionally worthy cause. By honoring W.T.S. Youth Outreach's mission, the support we receive from community patrons will allow us to provide services to improve children’s quality of life and also provide the basic necessities to complete their evolution into independent living. W.T.S. YOUTH OUTREACH'S MOTTO IS DEALING WITH THE PAST, HANDLING THE PRESENT AND PREPARING FOR THE FUTURE!
