Grounds for Dismissal is a band comprised of complete in tact successful happy failures. As human beings, we have a history of not fitting in, getting fired at jobs, Attention Deficit Disorders, compulsively, and political anger - basically- we are not stereotypes - we all have giant contrasts in our lives. Quilting is Karen's career and is well known in her industry - but may be the only international quilting author who is in a rock band. Karen has one of the lowest singing octaves you will hear from a female -which is one of the unique qualities of Grounds. She was vocally trained in Seattle by Susan Carr - "the Art of Screaming" and was told its a very rare gift as a female to be able to reach lows the average female is unable to reach. Grounds for Dismissal work extremely hard with our promotion and advertising of our gigs/shows.
- Grounds for Dismissal is a side project of several other bands. Dan (drums) is the front-man for Xhaust - known for their very unique sound in the rock/alternative genre and wears clothing mostly to stay warm - he prefers to wear recycled clothing. John is from Trench - known for their hardcore metal - and is not afraid of bodily injury - although he admits he does feel pain. We have added Nick (lead guitar) from Portraits for Judith, and Kathy McTavish(cello) from Cellodreams and Cosmic Pit Orchestra.
- Grounds for Dismissal is original music - post punk rock bordering on metal from Duluth Minnesota - expressing our passion thru music. We don't play cover tunes, just our stuff. We are focused on Hard Rock/Metal - currently recording with Half-Ass Studios - Support your FEMALE FRONTED bands!!!!
This Friday, we are debuting a project called Sonic Transformations. Every month or so we will present a new audio-visual performance based on a different theme/story. We will be collaborating with artists and other creative musicians along the way so let us know if you have something you'd want to bring into this project.
The first in the series is called "AN OBJECT TO CRAVE". Live music and visuals based on a short story about life, love, loss, fantasy, obsession and death.
Another group of mine, The Magnetrons, which plays an exciting and innovative Livetronica set (i.e. STS9, Disco Biscuits, The Histronic) will also be playing. It will be a musical adventure, and we hope that you can come participate :)
