Biography

The story of Adam begins in late 2006, when four utterly different people joined together to form one band...

The band now consists of experienced musicians to whom writing, recording music, performing and such, is no mystery, since they’ve all worked with numerous, well known names in Slovenia's music scene. Members' (also ex-members') signatures can be seen in different parts of the creative process along with artists such as: Srečna mladina, Gušti in Polona, Tinkara Kovač, Anavrin, Tide, Big foot mama, Laibach, Dan D, Jadranka Juras, Katalena, Tomaž Domicelj, Alya,...

Soon after forming, we started working on original material that hopefully now consists of skillful fresh songs with the strong drum basis of Gregor Jakac, solid bass lines of Anej Kočevar, imaginative guitars of Peter Dekleva and the emotional vocals of Damir Lisica - Dado.

We like to think of our music as eclectic rock with progressive bits, yet still present on the purist's horizon. Indie, melodic, european, organic, post-modern are all terms most often used by third paries when referring to our work. Lyrically, we describe things from a modern man's point of view, a world he lives in, questions he deals with or complex emotional situations that he's in.

In 2007 we were asked to record a particular song by a friend of ours, a music video director Urban Pekle, that would later become our close collaborator. He shot a charismatic video clip for the song "Odnosi med srečnimi" (trans.: " LO.V.E. is here"), that crossed over as a huge success, ruling almost all the country's most celebrated charts where placed.

Our line-up, however, did slightly change, despite the short period of our active collaboration and one can only guess if it was a consequence of the time and the place where we'd been living and making music in... Revolution was in the air, cultural, political, demographical and other kinds of changes were a part of our everyday life, since the notorious joining with the EU was still fresh and generally taken with a shadow of doubt. Creative minds of younger musical generations could not rest, so, new bands, changing line-ups, reunions and similar events were necessary if not unavoidable.

In 2009/2010 we recorded our debut album Alfa and also shot a video blog, called the Alfablog (groupadam.com/alfablog). It is a picturesque story of 18 chapters (songs) which describe the making of our debut. DIY production based on experiences and a strong faith we have in our message allows us to move freely within the vivid worlds of music and it's legacy.

In april 2010 our debut was released along with a video for the second single "Otroci brzine" (trans.: "Rubber bones"), also DIY produced with crucial help from Miha Rekar. So far Alfatour has already included gigs with some major slovenian bands (Siddharta, Big Foot Mama, Elvis Jackson, …), festivals (Schengenfest, Poletje v Bukowci, YU GO! …) and a show with the america's controversial act, Gossip in Ljubljana's Križanke. The tour is carefully recorded by a talented young photographer Jani Ugrin (groupadam.com/foto) and Alfa is very warmly accepted by critics, media and the audience itself.

In the fall of 2010 we released a new video for the third single "Modrost" (trans.: "Wisdom"). The video was directed by Uroš Žuraj in a stop motion technique. The shoot lasted for three days and more than 3000 different photos were used. It tells us a story about socially and emotionally numb modern man, who doesn't care about the consequences of the state he is in.

We also recorded a new song "Tekoči kristali" (trans.: "Flowing crystals") which was first presented live on a poetry festival Rokerji pojejo pesnike in Kino Šiška (spring 2010). The song is an interesting collaboration with a slovenian poet Nino Flisar and was released in the late fall of 2010 on "Rokerji pojejo pesnike 6" poetry compilation.

In spring of 2011 new single and collaboration followed. The song "Novi svet" (trans.: New world) required a new acoustic arrangement with a little help from our friends, the brass section of our ska legends Red five point star (link).

We continue touring across the country (http://www.groupadam.com/koncerti), working on english versions of the songs and a new video due to be released in the late winter of 2011.

So, welcome to the Brave new world!
