About me:
GROW is an OPIRG-Brock working group dedicated to humanizing foreign labour issues and building relationships with the people that are employed in the SAWP.
Our purpose is to strengthen our community with Niagara's seasonal migrant workers by building relationships, welcoming them into the community, and providing alternative social spaces outside of the farms. We'd like to develop bridges of understanding and respect between offshore workers and the local community.
Who I'd like to meet: Local folks who understand and appreciate the importance of personal relationships.
"Don't choose issues, choose people. Fall in love with a group of people who are marginalized, and then you won't have to worry about which cause you need to protect. Then the issues will choose you."
- Shane Claiborne, excerpt from The Irresistible Revolution
"“Love is, much more to life than just words,
Love means much more than to say you love; Love is, call on me brother,
Love is, call on me sister.”
– ‘Love Is’ by Jah Cure
HEY! My professor (Janet McLaughlin in Guelph) mentioned you/this program in a class last semester. It was so great and I got to see your (am I talking to Kate here?) zine about your friends and it was so lovely.
A fundraiser would be so awesome to play sometime, also.
