ACKNOWLEDGMENTS
This book would not be possible without God’s grace and eternal sense of humor, my parents’ unfailing love and encouragement (thank you for not disowning me for writing this), my brother Samuel’s status as my kite string, and my sister Rebekah’s position as my sanity and occasionally swift kick in the rear, not to mention as my longsuffering personal editor. Katherine Grace, you are the good, the innocence of this world for me. To the extended Moffett family that has endured me for 26 years—bless you—thank you for showing me a world where even in sadness and change, there is hope, there is family, there is love. Heaven’s knows all the others to whom credit is due, and while another book could be written on the acts of encouragement, kindness, and random Sarah-life-saving of family, friends, and colleagues, I would be beyond remiss if I didn't atleast acknowledge Grandhoney and Grandmother, my personal prayer warriors; Dirk Wierenga, my tireless and eternally patient publisher; Erik Gustafson, my mentor and the greatest attorney ever; and my McLean Bible Church small group.

The Rise and Fall of Innocence in a Pathos Plagued Year
By Sarah E. Moffett
SUMMARY. A Gen-Y, coming of age memoir about a family encountering and overcoming tragedy through the eyes of their precocious and witty daughter. In a writing style somewhere between Harper Lee and Sarah Vowell, author Sarah E. Moffett recalls the time when, at age twelve, the life of her family suddenly began to unravel after a simple phone call from a dying family member. What follows is a struggle to retain faith, hope, and love in the midst of inexplicable death and loss. Growing Up Moffett is written from a child's perspective, yet embraces the darkness that comes with the loss of innocence and the beginning of grasping death on an intimate level at an early age.
AUTHOR BIO. Sarah E. Moffett is a twenty-seven year old attorney working for a Washington D.C. area law firm who calls herself an author moonlighting as a lawyer for at least two-thousand billable hours per year. A native of Raleigh, North Carolina, she is a graduate of George Mason University School of Law and all of the insanity that law school entails. When she is not writing, reading, practicing law, or harassing her siblings, she usually can be found doing something that involves her iPod, preferably including running shoes. MEDIA REVIEWS. "If her first book, Growing Up Moffett: the rise and fall of innocence in a pathos plagued year-a funny, touching, poignant, wickedly witty and engaging memoir-is any indication, I don't think Ms. Moffett will be moonlighting much longer." Roxboro Courier-Times
"While [Growing Up Moffett] gets into emotionally tragic territory, Moffett’s wit and self-deprecation shine through as an author…[the author’s] family’s faith and her own emotional maturation are at the heart of Moffett’s book…" Alexandria Gazette
"Growing Up Moffett is written from a child’s perspective, yet embraces the darkness that comes with the loss of innocence and the beginning of understanding death early on in life." The Alexandria Times
“To some, storytelling comes naturally. In the case of Sarah Moffett, a 27-year-old lawyer and author, it’s apparent that she’s been born with the gift of gab. Humor is her greatest ally. Given her description of relatives near and far, her gift is likely inherited at both the cellular and learned levels.” Style Weekly READERS’ REVIEWS. "Growing Up Moffett made me laugh out loud, cry in public, and then spend time wondering how the author ever made it to adulthood..." Congressional Staffer, age 26, Washington, DC.
"This book is a paper version of a girl's night out with Sarah Moffett. You'll find yourself wanting to order dessert (or another martini) in the hopes she'll keep going, but dying for a period with a pause long enough to go to the ladies room." Consultant, age 31, Arlington, VA.
"It's exhilarating and exhausting...just like Sarah Moffett."
Attorney, age 33, Arlington, VA.
“Like stumbling on a diary left in the closet by a prior owner of your home, Growing Up Moffett is difficult to put down as the author reveals her childhood experiences and formative memories page by page with humor, introspection, drama, and angst.” Attorney, age 39, Alexandria, VA
"Here's a remarkable first book by a recent college grad. Hope it isn't her last! Moffett is such a cool writer, makes this an entertaining and insightful read on some of the ecstasies and agonies of growing up in the 80's and 90's." Author, Harrisonburg, VA.

Hey, I love the book cover. I know the book is a way's off but I can't wait. Oh, and for your second installment, let's not mention me streaking the baseball field at 3 in the morning wearing nothing but a pink tutu.
