I have a wide circle of friends which means I'm regularly meeting new people. I don't have a burning need to meet anyone in particular. I love meeting and getting to know new people but I'm more a 'real life' kind of people-person.
In terms of .. friends I tend to add someone as friend or list myself as a fan if:
- they *are* my friend (in 'real' life);
- a form of bookmarking if I like something about the site/blog/whatever and re-visit regularly;
- we've communicated extensively or have been in the same community as active members for a reasonable period of time that I *feel* as though I know the person;
- my mood at that moment in time dictates I do so.
DISCLAIMER: Even if conditions 1-3 apply, condition 4 is the clincher. Well, at least sometimes. Maybe.
DISCLAIMER 2: In all of the web communities were I lurk, browse or participate, I've added very few of my real life friends as 'friends' - but then, they already know I adore them.
I like looking at content on a number of web-community sites which explains (to those of you scratching your heads in puzzlement) why I have accounts on sites such as this one.
People whom I authorised but then blocked due to spam
(Did I tell you I'm allergic to spam - the junk mail advertising kind?)
- Faith spammed me with unsolicited advertising about surveys in comments (comment deleted) - so I lost Faith.
- Louise added nothing but advertising and junk mail (spam) to my comments area... so... shrugs - bye bye Louise.
