Grumpy's was originaly founded in 1980 by two Ocoee River outfitters looking for some weekend entertainment. Grumpy's began as a few river guides sat around the outpost on weekends and listened to bluegrass music. Gradually the bluegrass gave way to Rock N' Roll and an energetic river crowd dancin' the night away. Walls went up, a roof was erected and Grumpy's Ocoee River Rockhouse was born. Bands from around the South would clamor to play at Grumpy's for the rambunctious river people. If you were looking for some fun, good music and dancin' while you were in the Ocoee area you couldn't go wrong with Grumpy's.
Grumpy's has now been reborn. Closed since 2002, Grumpy's is what Polk County night life is all about. At Grumpy's you will find one of the most diverse crowds around. People of all types clamor to Grumpy's for a cold beer and great music and dancin'. If your in the Ocoee area and are in the mood for a great time, Grumpy's is a must. Come back each week to hear a great band. LIVE AT GRUMPY'S...
The Chattanooga Times says: " Perhaps the proxinity to a national forest is what attracts people to a club called Grumpy's. Maybe it's that burlap ceiling, or the pea gravel floor. Then again it could be the get-your-priorities-straight dance floor, which is solid concrete. But it might be the potent combination of clientele, a crowd that includes Ocoee River raft guides, paddlers, tourists and good ol' boys. At any rate, what started as a gathering place for river workers has evolved into one of the more rollicking bars in Southeast Tennessee."
Who I'd like to meet: All of the great people from all over the world. Stop in and say hey.
