Bomba Percussion
Students will comprehend and practice playing the rhythms of seis corrido and marianda from Loiza.

Bomba Kids Dance
Students will learn the history and dynamics of bomba dancing.

Memories: Our Past Is Our Future
Younger children will be paired will older children to encourage mentoring. Participants will explore how their families and culture celebrate All Saints Day and All Souls Day. They will do research, interview their family members, and learn how other people celebrate the tradition. They will recreate a family altar based on their research.

Mini Bomba Drum Making
Youths explore the history, materials and significance of the Bomba Drum as they create their own miniature instrument.
Instructor: Ruben Gerena

Plena Percussion
Students will learn the basic rhythmic patterns and engage in all four of the instruments involved in plena music (seguidor, puntiador, quinto and güiro).

Vejigante Mask-making
Students will create vejigante masks in the tradition of Ponce.

Tampa Taiko is a professional drumming duo that has performed their unique style for a vast array of audiences, performing at festivals, concert halls, schools, workshops, summer camps, corporate and VIP events. Using a collection of taiko drums made by themselves from discarded wine barrels, Tampa Taiko has developed a dynamic fusion of old and new styles of drumming, bringing a contemporary vibrance to an ancient martial artform.
