First experience with music was in school in Curacao, where I followed elective music class with other students in my year. I played mostly congas and cuarta (larger version of a Ukelele). Upon moving to the US, I made friends with a punk musician, who taught me the basics of guitar.
In the following years, I picked up bass and drums, while playing with various bands and also producing my own music. In 2004 I joined the rock band Oscar was playing drums in, developing my playing on bass to the point where it has become my main instrument.
Among the styles I have played where rock, reggae, drum n' bass, latin, blues and funk.

Oscar:
It all started with a toy drum and evolved into a full drum kit which was played purely on feeling. I subsequently took 2 years of lessons to get some real skills.
Two years of playing in a party rock band helped me developed my own drum style, best described as hiphop beats mixed up with influenceses in funk, latin, jazz, drum n' bass and rock.
After spending so much time on the rhythm side of music I started to fill my need for letting out my melodic side and started to play piano and with Roderyck I started playing guitar and bass.
Gruvodisiac hails from Amsterdam, that old world city of sin.
The duality of life in this capital of debauchery and traditionalism has greatly affected the minds of this frenetic duo.
With their debut EP, Fucha Music, they are attempting to unify the sounds of all the music they love, into a tight melodic package. They have a list of influences so long it would be unfair to make an incomplete list.
But to put it in simple terms: It has the energy of rock with the attitude of hip hop, the flavor of funk and the futurism of electronica.
While they call Amsterdam home, both members of Gruvodisiac have immensely varied backgrounds.
Oscar was born and raised in Amsterdam, and is descended from one of the premier music families on the Dutch Caribbean island of Curacao. As a result, music has always been a part of his life. He began his musical career playing drums in a punk band. But with the blood flowing through his veins it was a matter of time before he added guitar, piano and programming to his skill set to incorporate into the many styles of music he was playing.
Roderyck is a lifelong nomad, born in Caracas, and raised in Curacao, he began his musical life as a guitarist in a grunge band when his family moved to Miami in his mid teens. He honed his skills in bands playing metal, punk and industrial while searching for greener pastures in Prague, Boston, London, San Diego and Ibiza. Bass and production skills were developed in Amsterdam when he joined the band in which Oscar was drumming.
For this project, Gruvodisiac decided to remove every limitation in order to create something entirely original. As a result, sampling any records was strictly forbidden. Every sound you're about to hear on Fucha Music was performed by either Roderyck or Oscar.

I really really like "They Say". It's got a psychedelic funk vibe and the chorus is super catchy. "We're really not so different When the lights go down And we're grooving along". Two thumbs up fo' sure. Great bass line. Nice wah effect on the guitar. Job well done.
I'm back in NY finally. Feels great being out of Florida.
Great work on "Knock It Off". Love the excerpts from Devil's Advocate at the beginning. The chorus is very catchy infectious. Lyric and vocal arrangements are outstanding. Nice, dynamic guitar lines. I especially enjoyed the solo at the end.
Things are all right in the inferno. I'm working on a new tune, which should be up by the end of the month. I put the vocals on the back burner for now. How are things with you?
