WALTER KEMP: piano, keyboard
Walter’s father, a classical and gospel composer enrolled him in piano lessons, where he mastered fundamentals. After a brief interest in drums, he gravitated toward jazz piano. Walter has collaborated with various greats, including Hammond B3 ace BobbyJones and jazz great, Sabu Adeyola. With writing ability akin to Robert Glasper, Walter’s willingness to push the musical envelope has led to recording assignments with Joseph Wooten, Rishon Odell, and Buffalo Select Chorus, in addition to his own jazz collective, Gruvology. He has recently played with the Buffalo Philharmonic, and is organist for several congregations in Buffalo.
EFFERIN FUSE: electric bass
Efferin Fuse studied electric bass with Motown recording artist and Rick James bassist Jerry Livingston, pursuing his studies at Villa Maria College with James Kurzdorfer where he met drummer Tim Webb who provided much encouragement. He has played with various musicians who helped develop his musical insight and he is now the main bass player at Calvary Baptist church. It is his desire to constantly evolve as an artist and musician and to play music that is inspiring to others.
ANDRÉ KILLIAN: alto saxophone
André attended Buffalo Academy for Visual and Performing Arts then moved to New York City to pursue his jazz studies at the New School where he performed with various groups of New School alumni. Back in Buffalo André is working with his church ensemble and performing in many local clubs. He has released his own, self-titled cd. André is a master of the alto saxophone channeling the spirit of Charlie Parker through a more modern, angular phrasing and sound reminiscent of Eric Dolphy or Kenny Garrett. The intensity of his improvisations regularly moves audiences off their seats.
TIM WEBB: drums
Tim started to play the drums at the early age of eleven. Over the years his love of Gospel transformed his playing abilities into a passion of music and praise. Tim graduated from Villa Maria College with an Associate Degree in Music Business. He has and is working and recording with many local and touring bands such as The Reflex Band, Taylor Made Jazz tour with the Armed Forces Entertainment, Ray Mingus, St. Martin de Porres RCC, Lenny Revell, Nikki Hicks, New Beginnings Choral Ensemble (Germany), Consecrated, GWMA Male Chorus New Orleans and on his own in Japan. Nominated for best R&B Drummer 2004, 2005 and 2006.
BERNARD KUNZ: guitars, oud, loops
Keyboard with Afro-Cuban Combo in France, Jazz Guitar studies with Georges Barcos at Conservatoire Populaire de Musique, Geneva, Switzerland. Founding member of Jazz Group Straight Forward: opening act for Grover Washington Jr., B.B.King, Yellowjackets, Johnny Griffin, Joey DeFrancesco, Artpark Jazz Festival.
