Sounds Like
uhhhhhh...hmmmmmm.... Instrumental guitar-oriented rock, with cool melodies (I hope), and some good playing (I hope) throughout?
Originally from Grand Island, Nebraska, Scott is now one of the Northeast's busiest guitar instructors, juggling 60+ private students as well as serving on the faculty of the University of Maine-Augusta music dept (where he teaches guitar and directs the "Progressive Rock" ensemble).
Scott's third CD, "The In-Between Phase", finds him returning to his roots, as the fusion-esque leanings of his earlier work are replaced with a gutsy, stripped down approach that combines finely-crafted tunes with the tasteful, contemporary guitar work that listeners have come to expect. In addition to Hughes' orignals, listeners are treated to covers of Edgar Winter's classic "Frankenstein", and a unique spin on Thelonious Monk's "Blue Monk". Guitarists Derryl Gabel and Jeff Smoots also join in for guest solos on "Fi-Lo".
An endorsee for Dimarzio pickups, Xotic Effects, and Brian Moore guitars, as well as a Guitar Player magazine "Spotlight" recipient, Scott Hughes' latest effort is sure to please both the casual music fan as well as the rabid guitar enthusiast.
hey Scott - thanks for adding us to your friends list! - always good meeting other bands & artists from this great state of Maine - good luck with your music - John / William / Farren -Red Cross Sky-
Oh my goodness! Scott Hughes! Thanks for the add-- how have you been?! Your music sounds awesome! I am enjoying it very much. Maybe we will see you at the reunion? Take care!
Scott, It's great to hear from you !! Was wondering if you were coming back for the reunion ? I see your chops are as good as ever !! Sounds awesome !!
So I was talking to my private teacher today about what songs he had played on, and I knew he had played on Susan Tedeschi albums. So if you want to hear him, go listen to "Alone" off the CD Wait For Me. He's the person playing the acoustic guitar, which has a pretty killer solo in the middle of the song.
oh, not too much. just trying to stay alive. and keep up with school and everything around it. some guy went into our car and stole some coins the other night. remember to lock your car... howzit going with you? i will be seeing you on thursday.
Welcome friend and break a circuit breaker! May fireworks light up your sky! Sometimes music bounces from inside your head to the next dimension and sometimes it's right in front of you. Just grab the magic and go for broke! I've always prided myself on having a low IQ since I was made with cheap re-processed American parts and a third class synthetic brain. Did you ever hear a robot spouting philosophy in his underwear?

NO JOKE NOW...I've been within a foot of a gray and have been abducted many times but I can laugh. I can finally laugh. PS You're invited to a cookout at the summit of Olympus Mons, the largest volcano on Mars and within our solar system. Bring your own marshmallows. PPS ZZ Van Hendrix says that he remembers you from a past lifetime... I think he was a pretzel. PPPS We're building a giant TV-Radio Internet Link on Mars so that we can pick-up your My Space Page. Don't want to miss anything. We’ll be watching you… Who do you think taught Superman to see through walls?
HAPPY ACROSS THE UNIVERSE DAY!!! From the ROBOTS FROM MARS
THE songs of the Beatles have always enjoyed a universal appeal. Now one of their best-loved recordings has been beamed out into the galaxy. It's an attempt to introduce the Fab Four's music to alien ears. NASA broadcasted the song, "Across the Universe", through the transmitters of its deep space communications network on February 4, 2008 — the 40th anniversary of its recording at London's Abbey Road studios. February 4th also commemorated the space agency's 50th anniversary. The music was converted into digital data and sent on a 431 light year-journey towards Polaris, the North Star. The broadcast began its journey to Polaris, at 7 p.m. EST/Monday Evening.
Enjoying the music of you and your friends...Galen
