Interests

  • General

    My interests are varied and many. I have a passion for literature, but will read almost anything. I love the arts and to dance--be it swing, rock, salsa, tango, foxtrot, waltz, square or contra dancing. I enjoy riding and hiking, being outdoors with animals and people. I do require quiet time alone, though.

  • Music

    Jazz, Blues, clasical, salsa, clypso and older rock are what I enjoy. I don't much care for country, but I love to dance to it. Oftentimes, I much prefer silence to music.

  • Movies

    I favor movies that make me think and e xamine my values. My favorite movie of all time is an obscure flick called Bad Timing--most depressing. I also like movies such as "As Good AS It Gets, " which is not to say I don't appreciate offbeat movies such as "Eating Raul." In some ways, I like any well done, well made movie.

  • Television

    I don't watch the tube, and if I did it would just be for news. I realize that this is a gapping hole in my cognitive makeup, but so be it.

  • Books

    I read widely, and like biographies and factual books; however, my true interest is in early 20th century litereature--William Faulkner, John Dos Pasos, Jack London, Upton Sinclair, Sinclair Lewis, Henry Miller and many others. Aside from his short stories, I do no care for Ernest Hemmingway, nor F. Scott Fitzgerald.

  • Heroes

    The "Heroes" of our time do not exist unless it be an anonymous woman or man, loving, giving and caring one small act at a time. Anyone who would draw attention to themselves, to try to set themselves up as "Hero" are not worthy of the word.

About me:

I just wrote something, but it was put somewhere else and I apparently lost it. My name is actually Shaine, and I'm 58, not 98. Actually, I wanted to put my birthdate as 1604, but it's not allowed. So much for the freedom which we live under. I am colleged educated, divorced with no children, 5'9" 150 and healthy. I am currently trying to open a used Book, CD, DVD and Video store/ copy center, as well as an internet cafe. The business is going into a commercial building I own. The building is sizable (I also have an apartment in it.). I am a hopeless romantic---have two mules, a burra and three dogs. I plan on touring the country with the animals pulling a gypsy wagon I own. I plan on hypnotizing people and divining fortunes. I am learning about hypnosis, but no nothing about telling fortunes. I plan on flying by the seat of my pants and learning as I go. I look for someone with intelligence, personality, a sense of adventure, and who is willing to dance and travel with me.
