Who I'd like to meet: Guardian Games is Portland's biggest and best game store. With over 4000 sq. ft. of gaming space, we host games of all types, and sell all the swag to go with them.
There is a rule when it comes to television or movie based tie-ins. Be it analog or digital, the rule demands that a game need be hastily put together and generally suck in every measurable way. However, just as the current Sci-Fi Channel series, Battlestar Galactica, is the exception to the rule that all “reimaginings” are crap, so to is the game based on said series. The front of the box claims “A Game of Politics, Betrayal, and Survival”. I will admit, I wasn’t hoping for anything beyond good game strategy and game mechanics. I mean, this is a board game based on one of the greatest dramas ever produced. No way in Kobol could a collection of plastic ships and pressed cardboard capture the tension and excitement of the series.
Did game designer Corey Konieczka and Fantasy Flight Games deliver on the goods?
