About me: Guerrilla Girls On Tour is a theatre company made up of women who use humor to create performances that celebrate women’s history and prove feminists are funny. We are anonymous and each of us has taken the name of a dead woman artist. When we appear on stage we wear masks to accentuate the comedic nature of our work as well as to put the focus entirely on celebrating and advocating for all women in theatre instead of on our own individual personalities. This anonymity has gotten us international attention.
Guerrilla Girls On Tour creates comedies that focus on the history of women, specifically on the history of women in world theatre. We use ensemble techniques drawn from vaudeville and physical theatre using music, movement and parody to make our pieces entertaining, informative and empowering. Audiences of all ages and genders have enjoyed our shows. We include master classes and workshops with all of our tours and have worked with communities on creating site-specific works performed with local artists and non-artists from places like Warsaw, Poland to Hawaii.
In 2000 the Guerrilla Girls split into three separate and independent incorporated groups to bring fake fur and feminism to new frontiers: Guerrilla Girls On Tour, Guerrilla Girls BroadBand and Guerrilla Girls. Guerrilla Girls On Tour was founded in 2001 by three former members of Guerrilla Girls and is not affiliated with GuerrillaGirlsBroadBand or Guerrilla Girls.
About this page:
I have been very active in Domestic Violence causes all of my adult life. I noticed a need in the world pertaining to Same Sex Domestic Violence. It happens more than people know. Unfortunately there are a number of gay people who barely consider themselves worthy or valued as a gay person much less a Domestic Violence Victim. There are also very limited resources, statistics, or information, for Same Sex Domestic Violence. Hopefully through empowerment and education we can change some of this. :D
Just wanted to say, I was the student volunteer when you guys came to the university of akron, and it was amazing. I would love to work with you guys again in the future
Champions aren't made in gyms. Champions are made from something they have deep inside them-a desire, a dream, a vision. They have to have last-minute stamina, they have to be a little faster, they have to have the skill and the will. But the will must be stronger than the skill. Muhammad Ali
