About me: Guerrilla Girls On Tour is a theatre company made up of women who use humor to create performances that celebrate women’s history and prove feminists are funny. We are anonymous and each of us has taken the name of a dead woman artist. When we appear on stage we wear masks to accentuate the comedic nature of our work as well as to put the focus entirely on celebrating and advocating for all women in theatre instead of on our own individual personalities. This anonymity has gotten us international attention.
Guerrilla Girls On Tour creates comedies that focus on the history of women, specifically on the history of women in world theatre. We use ensemble techniques drawn from vaudeville and physical theatre using music, movement and parody to make our pieces entertaining, informative and empowering. Audiences of all ages and genders have enjoyed our shows. We include master classes and workshops with all of our tours and have worked with communities on creating site-specific works performed with local artists and non-artists from places like Warsaw, Poland to Hawaii.
Recent performances in 2006 include The Public Theatre, NY; West Carolina University, NC; Franklin Pierce College, NH; Earlham College, IN; Florida International University, Miami; USC, Los Angeles; Kentucky Arts Council, KY; Seoul, South Korea; University of Houston, TX; Wright State University, OH; Fairfield County Women’s Center, CT and Washington University, MO.
