Global Unification - The Gambia's Blurbs
About me:
Global Unification-The Gambia is a Registered Research Development Association, and is a chapter of Global Unification International. The Association has, as it's sole objective, the advancement of humanity in developing countries for the continued evolution of co-operation.

Our mission is to work in partnership with Government Institutions, NGO's, Civil Society Organisation, Local Communities and individuals to assist developing communities.

Global Unification, The Gambia was established to contribute to Global Unification International, in its formulation and implementation, as well as advocating programs relevant to youth development, women..s empowerment, child protection, alleviating extreme poverty, fighting illiteracy and above all participating in maintaining peace, justice and sustainable development. This, we believe is indispensable for human survival and constitutes a sacred duty which all nations must strive to achieve for their people.

Global Unification The Gambia through the Pan African Movement of Global Unification Africa..s Chapter, also have the mandate to bring the attention of the Global African community about the Objectives of African Union and need to support Africans leaders and governments in their quest for positive change in life of people living in the continent. Thus, the Initiation of the awareness program entitled, 1-Voice 1-Action 1-Africa Campaign.

To effectively realize these noble objectives, we have five domains of intervention, namely youth, women..s and children's affairs, advocacy, lobbying and campaigning as well as the creation of GU IT Centers in developing communities.

In co-operation with other Institutions, Global Unification-The Gambia’s mission is to excel in delivering the best educational skills and practices to individuals, groups to assist development of The Gambia.

Our objective is to improve the capacity and efficiency of individuals and groups, in the delivering of quality services, utilizing best International Practices and Standards, to meet the needs of our local communities.

Global Unification -The Gambia integrates professionals, institutions, and organizations with the latest available technology in systems and applications, designed specially to improve performance in acceleration of sustainable development in poor communities in the Gambia.

¨Professionals now have the historically, unprecedented, technological capacity to improve the standards of living of our people.¨

Our vision: We believe in the unity of mankind – that all people matter, and that the world be run under one system, as one planet, ensuring mankind’s survival.

We believe that the word ¨Poverty¨ should be removed from our dictionary and that there should no longer be poor countries or poor people on our planet.

We believe that the differences between us, which make life interesting, and that we should cherish these differences, not ignore them.

When it comes down to it, is the people of the world who have to change our world, and we can only start with ourselves.

To accomplish our mission and objective, Global Unification –The Gambia in collaboration with concern partners is working hard to established GU ICT Resource and Training Centres in the six Regions of the Gambia, for the purpose of improving the life skills of local communities needed for them to effectively participate in nation building.
Our Priority Areas:

To achieve our objectives, Global Unification has divided its work in five priority programs called domains. These are:

1. Information Communication Technology:

Global Unification-The Gambia will introduce to local communities in The Gambia, GU ICT Resource centres that will provide Internet access, secretarial services, communication services etc. The centres will also provide ICT knowledge and skills and linguistics studies for young people as our priority for assisting in the eradication of ignorance and illiteracy by developing a system whereby we train the trainers.

2. Youth Affairs:

In the Gambian youth (Male and Female) account to nearly 50% of population yet they seldom participate in decision making at national level, event on critical issues affected. This is attributed to large extend on low level of education, which is aggravated by poverty and unemployment or underemployment. The GU youth welfare program has as its sole objective the promotion, protection, defense and assistance for the successful implementation and application of adopted policies for the advancement of youths.

3. Women Affairs:

Indicators reveal that the population of women in the Gambia is growing rapidly, and still they remain among the most vulnerable to common difficulties and crises such as HIV/AIDS, gender base violence etc, thus making it imperative for us to join hands in advancing their lives.

This program has as its sole objective the promotion, protection, defense and assistance for the successful implementation and application of adopted policies for the advancement of women.

4. Advocacy, Lobbying and Campaigning:

This program is designed to unite policy makers and grassroots communities for the common goal of advancing humanity, enabling a richer environment for the successful implementation and application of policies for the continued evolution of co-operation.

5. Children Affairs:

The children program is one of our main priorities. When you consider the reality that children are the leaders of tomorrow and yet are among the most vulnerable to crises and communal distress, therefore we will be introducing educational methods best suited to prepare the children of the Gambia for the responsibilities of the future.

This program has as its sole objective the promotion, protection, defense and assistance for the successful implementation and application of adopted policies for the advancement of children. Send me an IM!

Hey there,
Here's one from left field for you...
Ever wondered what to do in the event of a nuclear threat?
A while back I came across some very disturbing information, which inspired me to make this video:
Living Under the Shadow of the Nuclear Umbrella
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UaIim3Rj7L4
Both artistic (ensure you've good enough sound to enjoy the background music!) and educational, it primarily comprises official British government civil defence advice.
Though the source materials are somewhat aged, the fundamentals remain relevant today.
I encourage all to visit the YouTube web page above to learn more (Show your support! Rate! Comment!) and responsibly re-post and circulate as widely as possible.
Help to raise awareness.
Say have you checked out my web site (http://www.faberoptime.com) recently?
Take care and keep in touch.
Best,
Faber.

American Anti-Slavery Group

Jun 14 2007 6:53 PM

Greetings,

Thank you for becoming a friend of the American Anti-Slavery Group. From sex slaves in Asia to chattel slaves in Africa, more people are enslaved today than ever before. At the American Anti-Slavery Group (AASG) we fight for the freedom of the estimated 27 million victims of human trafficking globally through education, advocacy work, grassroots activism, and direct aid.

We need the help of supporters like you. AASG is currently working with Christian Solidarity International to liberate slaves in Sudan and providing them with food, medical care, and necessary supplies to rebuild their lives. At least 12,000 people are being held in slavery in northern Sudan and many more are being displaced, kidnapped, murdered and abused in Darfur.

We are also fighting slavery within the US. It is estimated that nearly 17,000 people are trafficked into the United States every year and held in bondage through forced labor, debt bondage, chattel slavery, and sex slavery.

You can learn more about these issues and many others by visiting our website at www.iabolish.org/ and please consider putting our banner on your site. Thank you for your support.

In freedom,
American Anti-Slavery Group
