In fitting with Guia Rivera's latest song "Te Verde," the wallpaper on this page is provided courtesy of artist Alfred Li Tsao. This particular painting and his other works are currently on display at the Harold Washington Library in Chicago.
Alfred Li Tsao is a Chicago area artist and alum of The School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC). Alfred has had his artwork displayed at the James R. Thompson Center, the Chicago Cultural Center, Gallery 2, and Access Living of Metropolitan Chicago. Alfred's style of painting is modern contemporary Asian with Japonaiserie influences. Being an Asian American, it is important for him to reflect his dual identities in his work, such as in his current series, Reflection: The Perpetual Metamorphosis of Identity. By blending both backgrounds, Alfred creates hybrid paintings with an East-meets-West sensibility in style and substance. He combines painting techniques by creating traditional style Asian paintings using non-traditional style mediums such as acrylic, oil, and mixed media. For example, he may paint a traditional watercolor or sumi ink painting first as a mock up, and then translate the painting into the final form.
