GUIDO MARTIN & FRIENDS

- a project of the songwriter, guitarist and singer GUIDO MARTIN as well as the bassist, composer and engineer WOLFGANG MIRCHE (TATCH).

The name of the band takes the fact into account that musicians were involved in the project various, not only belonging to the group. Aim is to set up an official liveband around GUIDO. Since a meeting in the THEATERHAUS MITTE in Berlin both founders ascertained immediately the common characteristic of their musical, lyrical and compositional predilections. Thus originated after nearly two-year-old cooperation of songwriting and producing with the vigorous support of the soundengineer TOBIAS DICKMANN the album TIMELESS NIGHTS.

The CD contains 11 tracks from own feather and manufacturing. The repertoire encloses blues-sounding like rock songs, ballades, soul-jazz like songs and is arranged with instant commercial hooklines and harmoniously melodic complexity. The predilection in the mostly anglo-american style of the songwriting is clearly to recognize. The songlyrics were written by GUIDO and TATCH together. They appeal on the one hand partly to society-politically global injustice, on the other hand, admit, however, also always a positive conclusion: „Fight and do not surrender!“

Demanded on the musical past, GUIDO has to mark the following: „Nevertheless, it is unnecessary to enumerate in which former band-formations I was present as a singer or guitarist; anyhow nobody wants to know this! That what I try to express now, musically and poetically, does not have in common with of that time any more a lot. It does not depend at all on what I have one day made. However, it was much more important to learn from the past and to draw the right conclusions for me from it – then, finally, you only live once! And this is now. Certainly the one or other idea of our songs already existed before the completion of the CD; what is to be heard, however, at last on it, is a product of the cooperation with my soulbrother TATCH. What concerns our musical and lyrical roots, there I can speak only with JIMI HENDRIX' words: 'Are you experienced?’ - We are!“

At the moment GUIDO works hard on building up a firm group around himself. He wants to present, finally, to the fans the songs of the CD as well as some not yet published tracks live. The start to a nationwide club tour is not certain yet, but he hopes that in the end of 2009 everything stands so far. Before that he will present himself on various events and festivals.

- ein Projekt des Songwriters, Gitarristen und Sängers GUIDO MARTIN sowie des Bassisten, Komponisten und Technikers WOLFGANG MIRCHE (TATCH).

Der Bandname trägt der Tatsache Rechnung, dass an dem Projekt diverse, nicht nur zur Band gehörige Musiker beteiligt waren. Ziel ist es, eine amtliche Liveband um GUIDO zu etablieren. Seit einer Begegnung am Berliner THEATERHAUS MITTE stellten beide Gründer sofort die Gemeinsamkeit ihrer musikalischen, lyrischen und kompositorischen Vorlieben fest. So entstand nach beinahe zweijähriger Zusammenarbeit des Songwritings und des Produzierens mit der tatkräftigen Unterstützung des Tontechnikers TOBIAS DICKMANN das Album TIMELESS NIGHTS.

Die CD enthält 11 Tracks aus eigener Feder und Fertigung. Das Repertoire umfasst blues-rockige bis soul-jazzige balladeske Songs und ist mit der Raffinesse eingängig ausgeschlafener Hooklines und harmonisch melodischer Vielschichtigkeit arrangiert. Die Vorliebe an der zumeist angloamerikanischen Handschrift des Songwritings ist hier deutlich herauszuhören. Die Texte wurden von GUIDO und TATCH gemeinsam verfasst. Sie sprechen einerseits zum Teil gesellschaftspolitisch globale Ungerechtigkeiten an, lassen andererseits aber auch immer einen positiven Ausklang zu: „Fight and do not surrender!“

Auf die musikalische Vergangenheit angesprochen, hat GUIDO folgendes anzumerken: „Es erübrigt sich jedoch aufzuzählen, in welchen ehemaligen Bandformationen ich als Sänger oder Gitarrist dabei war; das will doch sowieso niemand wissen! Das, was ich jetzt musikalisch und dichterisch versuche auszudrücken, hat mit dem von damals nicht mehr viel gemeinsam. Es kommt überhaupt nicht darauf an, was ich jemals gemacht habe. Es war aber viel wichtiger, aus der Vergangenheit zu lernen und die richtigen Schlüsse für mich daraus zu ziehen – denn schließlich lebt man nur einmal! Und das ist absolut jetzt. Sicherlich war die ein oder andere Idee unserer Songs schon vor der Fertigstellung der CD vorhanden; was aber jedoch letztendlich auf ihr zu hören ist, ist ein Produkt der Zusammenarbeit mit meinem Seelenbruder TATCH. Was unsere musikalischen und lyrischen Wurzeln betrifft, da kann ich nur mit JIMI HENDRIX’ Worten sprechen: 'Are you experienced?’ - We are!“

GUIDO arbeitet zurzeit hart daran, eine feste Band um sich herum aufzubauen. Denn man will ja schließlich den Fans die Songs der CD sowie einiger noch nicht veröffentlichter Tracks live präsentieren. Der Start zu einer bundesweiten Clubtour steht bis jetzt noch nicht fest, aber man hofft, dass Ende 2009 alles soweit steht. Davor wird man sich auf diversen Events und Festivals präsentieren.
