    Drummer Guido May was born in Bad Reichenhall, Bavaria/Germany on August 18, 1968. After studying classical piano for eight years his interest moved to the drums. Always interested in improvised music he attended several Jazzworkshops. After highschool graduation he moved to Munich and had his first concerts and recordings with Peter O'Mara, Adrian Mears, Johannes Enders, Thomas Stabenow, Evan Tate, Juergen Seefelder and many others. In 1996 he played with funk ikon Pee Wee Ellis, which included a European tour and the album "A New Shift", feat. Fred Wesley. 1997-2000 he did tours with Wolfgang Schmid's "Kick", Mose Allison, Peter Fessler and played with Artists like Diana Krall, Claudio Roditi, Jay Ashby, Bob Berg, Rick Margitza, Leni Stern, Bobby Shew, Karl Ratzer, Bireli Lagrene, Thilo Wolf Big Band feat. John Pizzarelli..... In the meantime Christian v. Kaphengst (b) decided to form a band. "Café du Sport" was born and won right away the renowned "Hennessy Jazz Search" in cologne, followed by two recordings: "Café du Sport" and "2nd Service" and tours in West Africa and India, organized by the Goethe Institut. In 2000 he performed Kenny Wheelers "Music for small and large Ensemble" including the recording "Wake, Awake !" with the Bamberger Symphoniker Big Band. 2001-2007 Performances with The New York Voices, Pee Wee Ellis / Fred Wesley, Chico Freeman, Antonio Faraò, Charlie Mariano, Jason Rebello, Johnny Griffin / Kirk Lightsey Quartet, Don Menza and he played the reunion of the James Brown Horns Pee Wee Ellis, Fred Wesley and Maceo Parker at Ronnie Scotts/London. Since 2008 he is part of the newest project of Pee Wee Ellis: "Still Black, Still Proud" An African Tribute to James Brown with featured artists Fred Wesley, Manu Dibango, Sheik Lo, TY or the Mahotella Queens. He performed with Franco Ambrosetti, Martha High, Fred Ross, Tony Remy, Linley Marthé, Julian Crampton, Laurence Cottle, Benny Bailey, Andy Sheppard, John Marshall, Al Porcino Big Band, Nina Plotzki, Steve McKenna, Ferdinand Povel, Rob van Bavel, Mark Soskin, Gareth Williams, Peter Madsen, James Morton, Josh Arcoleo, Jonathan Taylor, Martin & Patrick Scales, Klaus Doldinger, Barbara Dennerlein, Till Broenner, Peter Woelpl, Rick Keller, Joo Kraus, Joe Haider, Dusko Goykovich, David Gazarov, Christian Elsaesser, Tom Reinbrecht, Carolyn Breuer, Anke Helfrich, Peter Fessler, Tony Lakatos, Raoul Walton, Ernst Stroer, Biboul Darouiche, hr-Big Band, Attilla Zoller, Elmar Brass, Christian Doepke, Claus Raible, Roberto DiGioia, Johannes Faber, Marty Cook, Dieter Ilg, Ludwig Seuss, Joe Kienemann, Larry Porter, Helmut Kagerer, Nippy Noya, "Bach, Blech & Blues", ...
