This CD is the realisation of a long cherished dream. It all started around the middle of January 2004. Daniel Lüdke (sound engineer) and I travelled for three weeks through Germany, England and Ireland, visiting many musicians and recording the various tracks of the CD. We did not make a plan in advance, all sets were created and recorded spontaneously. The results are the arrangements which are on the CD. We had only made appointments with the various musicians but further than that nobody knew what was going to happen. I will be eternally grateful to each and every one of the musicians that they all complied without hesitation and hope that none of them has any regrets. For the recordings with the bodhrán we used two microphones, a Beyerdynamic M99 for the bases and a Neumann KM140 for the pitches. All the other instruments were recorded with an AKG C-12 and a Neumann U87 microphone. For the various tracks I have used a 40 cm double skin by Christian Hedwitschak, and a 40 cm single skin bodhrán by Seamus O'Kane. I hope you will enjoy your travels through the bodhrán world.

Mit dieser CD erfülle ich mir einen lang ersehnten Traum. Angefangen hat alles Mitte Januar 2004. Im Rahmen einer dreiwöchigen Reise besuchten Daniel Lüdke (Technik) und ich verschiedene Musiker in Deutschland, England und Irland, wo wir dann die verschiedenen Stücke der CD aufnahmen. Ein Konzept gab es nicht. Alle Sets wurden vor Ort kreiert und aufgenommen. Dabei ergaben sich die Arrangements, wie sie auf der CD zu hören sind. Vorher abgesprochen waren nur die Termine, wann wir die Musiker besuchen kommen, ansonsten wußte keiner, was geschehen wird. Daher bin ich den einzelnen Musikern unendlich dankbar, daß sie ohne Zögern zugesagt haben und hoffe, daß es keiner von Ihnen bereut hat. Für die Aufnahmen der Bodhrán haben wir zwei Mikrofone benutzt, ein Beyerdynamic M99 für die Bässe und ein Neumann KM140 für die Höhen. Die restlichen Instrumente und Stimmen wurden mit einem AKG C-12 und einem Neumann U87 aufgenommen. Für die unterschiedlichen Tracks habe ich eine 40 cm Double Skin von Christian Hedwitschak und eine 40 cm Single Skin Bodhrán von Seamus O..Kane benutzt. Ich wünsche viel Vergnügen auf der Reise durch die Bodhrán World...

Hi Guido! Danke schön für..s "Befreunden". Bin ein großer Fan des Irish/Celtic Folks und auch des Bodhran Trommel-Spiels(kann es leider selber nicht). Bin durch die HomePage Celtic Days auf Dich aufmerksam geworden. Vielleicht hab ich ja mal die Chance, ein Seminar von Dir zu besuchen.
