LOVE AROUND HERE; singlePenny Black Music - Single Review
"...Frontman Neal Sawyer’s vocals are much like McNabbs in the mid 80’s that it is easy to see why, as a massive McNabb fan, this band blew me away live and that I relish every note which I have heard from them to date..."
Room 13 - Single Review
"...There's just no love around here my darling...' is the protest before we kick back into the malevolent but acute mess of rock n roll and soul mining that a youth listening to Johnny Cash and the Doors should inevitably bring. Nothing forced, nothing contrived, pure heart of darkness poetry from the deserts of Staffordshire..."
Raw Reviews - Featured Artist
"...it is increasingly rare to find a band thats only desire is to be heard by everyone - love or hate it without a profit in mind. Recently they acquired a converted post van to tour in and so determined to play their gigs they faced near death motorway experiences undeterred..."
Rock 3 Radio - Single Review
"...with a dash of spiritual drama that tugs at your soul, almost lifting you to somewhere else, making use of pulsing drums, soulful rhythm’s and screeching spine chilling guitars Guile are embarking on a Journey and we should all get on board and go with them..."
CD Times - Dry Bar live Review
"...The music stands up. Their tenebrous, turbulent tumult is in the blood. I find myself desperate to see them again..."
Subba Cultcha - Single Review
"...Powerful blues flavoured rock with a post rock sense of ambience and shoe gazing edge - perfect for Nick Cave fans..."
The Beat Surrender - Single Review
"...They crawl like the Velvets, hypnotize with Doors like drama and project an aural assault of psychedelic proportions that is all their own. ‘Love Around Here’ is a stomping, country tinged groove that transcends into a soundtrack for the apocalypse....."
Clash Magazine - Single Review
"...fine gritty, dirt-smeared blues that occasionally delves into the dark reaches of Doors-esque psychedelia. With menace and melody cramped into one tight space, it’s like the aural equivalent of the black lung....."
Hearing Aid Blog Gigbeth Live Review
"...tonight Guile hit the spot...just there...no left a bit...that's it. The missing link between the 13th Floor Elevators, The Doors and XTRMNTR era Primal Scream (with a bit of JAMC thrown in for good measure), Guile are the awesome psych soundtrack to the greatest road movie never made....."
Rock Midgets Single Review
"...If this is how good Guile are now, in a few years they'll rule the music world."
Rating: 5/5 by Gaz Hughes

Formed in their hometown of Cannock, Staffordshire – ‘Guile’ take their name from the noun of witchcraft etymology; referring cunning devices, mischievous deceit, shrewdness or intelligent manifested astuteness.
Holed up in a once booming but now defunct mining complex, a tireless work ethic has enabled the band to evolve a brand of psychedelic blues narcotica, that’s all their own.
Fusing the psychedelic influences of ‘the Velvet Underground', ‘the 13th floor elevators’ and ‘the Doors, the scuzzier elements of ‘the Jesus and Mary Chain’, the country and folk styling of ‘Johnny Cash’ through to ‘Robert Johnson’ and a blues rooted soulfulness reminiscent of ‘Muddy Waters’, ‘Chuck Berry’ and sometimes even gospel artists such as ‘the Staple Singers’… ‘Guile’s’ twisted, swaggering, wall of white noise is a unique proposition.
The four piece have adopted a retrospective gigging ethos; one that’s particularly refreshing in this cyber age. The band have already covered the UK on three massive independent tours, made their European debut in Porto and are booked to play the New Glam Festival in Frankfurt, Germany.
This no nonsense approach to getting out on the road is continually helping to build the band a loyal fan base. Ask anybody who was trying but couldn’t get into the Castle gig in December and sold out Little Civic gig this year, they’ll tell you that ‘Guile’ are no longer just a shadowy secret.
‘Spacemen 3’ were at one such ‘caboose of a train’ gig and went on to publicly praise the band. ‘Guile’ have also gone on to share a stage with some formidable names and were invited onto the 'Howling Bells' Little Civic show, one of only two sell out shows on the Australians tour. Guile have also enjoyed supporting ‘the Boxer Rebellion’, ‘the Departure’, ‘We are Scientists’, ‘Amusement Parks on Fire’, ‘Scott Matthews’ and ‘the Warlocks’ to name a few.
The independent promotional release of ‘Love Around Here’ picked up radio and press attention from BBC 6 Music, XFM, BBC WM, Revolution Radio, Kerrang, Sandman Magazine, Penny Black Music, Room 13, Clash Magazine among others as well as numerous online blogs.
Despite media attention the band are more determined than ever to push their dynamic psychedelic, alternative blues to the next level. From within the industrial walls of Cannock, Guile are a creative uprising poised to take you with them …
