About YOM - DRUMMER LOOKING FOR A BAND OR AN ARTIST
BIOGRAPHY
It was not a family legacy, but instead an innate passion that pushed Guillaume Dupré aka YOM to dedicate himself to the music world, more specifically, to playing the drums. YOM spent the first ten years learning to play by ear, using improvised instruments and imitating what he saw and heard. Eventually, he achieved a more a formal training by enrolling in music school and learning to read, write, and compose music. He further developed his talent and skill by taking percussion lessons at the local conservatory. The years spent at the conservatory studying under the guidance of accomplished jazz percussionist, Max Poulet, helped YOM to build a solid foundation, both musically and rhythmically.
At 17, YOM discovered the extreme side of the music world when he joined his first (thrash-metal) band, Lethargy. After playing a number of live shows, and completing several demos and other compilations, a new (metal) band, ShockWave, was born from its ashes. While with ShockWave, YOM met several artists and bands in the metal world who shared common interests and needs. They eventually formed a “crew” called CORIACE, a collective of bands/artists in the region who worked as part of a collaborative entity, sharing contacts and ideas for things like; finding musicians, venues for live shows, rehearsal space, etc... It was with CORIACE that YOM would meet the musicians who would later form ETHS, which would become one of, if not the most, prominent metal bands in France.
YOM remained with ETHS for several years (1999-2006), playing in front of thousands of fans at venues along the most prestigious “scene” in France and Europe (les Eurockéennes, le Printemps de Bourges, the Hellfest, the Olympia, l’Elysée Montmartre, the Loco, the Dour festival). He recorded three albums, of which more than 50,000 copies have been sold to this day.
YOM is a versatile and skilled musician who can learn quickly and perform with ease. While with ETHS, YOM also sat in with the (alternative rock) band Biocide (2 tracks recorded) as well as the (neo metal) band Tripod, (with whom he learned a one-hour set list in just three days and went on to successfully play ten live shows). YOM demonstrated his talent and versatility when he was asked to perform for two bands in one night at the “Rocksound Festival”. He managed to play a one-hour set for ETHS then immediately went on to play another one-hour set with Tripod. Both performances were a great success. Additionally, YOM helped the (neo-metal) band Watcha avoid a crisis when he jumped in to replace their drummer at the last minute. He was able to learn their set in a matter of days and joined the band to play at two large festivals. Also during this time, YOM created a recreational band Bokaputa with a few of his best buddies, played a few shows, and recorded the album: Bokaputa - Fat and Furious.
In 2007, YOM participated in the recording of LUNATIC AGE’s new album, August the month of misfortune, and the tour that followed. Additionally, he recorded a few titles for I-Burn (a metal band from Ireland) and Khundalini (a trip-hop band from France).
Soon after, his latest project Really Addictive Sound (R.A.S.) was born. The band’s first album and tour (France, Ireland, and U.S.A.) promised a certain future to come. With R.A.S., YOM mixed together his rock, groove, punk and metal influences, creating a distinctive and diversified sound to the dynamics of his drumming. Recognizing YOM’s talent, and confident in R.A.S.’s potential for success, Yamaha, Paiste, Remo and Vater brands offered their sponsorship for the band’s development. Soon after, Google, Burton, and Analog brands followed suit in their support for the band.
YOM, at 33 years old, is still quite eager in his passion to pursue new musical endeavors. Several projects are currently in the works: A solo album, the 22 project, a second album/ tour with Really Addictive Sound, a new album with Bokaputa, and several other small projects creating drum demos, and performing live and/or contributing to recordings for albums with various artists and bands...

Ce n’est pas un héritage familial, mais bel et bien une passion innée pour la musique qui ont poussé Guillaume Dupré aka YOM à se dévouer cet univers et tout spécialement à la batterie. Après avoir passé ses dix premières années à mimer, derrière des instruments improvisées, ce qu’il voyait et entendait, YOM entame son instruction musicale par le solfège puis par des cours de percussions au conservatoire local. Ces quelques années passées aux côtés de Max Poulet lui ont permis d’acquérir de solides bases, musicalement et rythmiquement.
A 17 ans, il rencontre son premier groupe, Lethargy, où il découvre le monde des musiques dîtes extrêmes. Après de nombreux concerts, plusieurs démos et autres compilations, un nouveau projet nait des cendres de celui-ci : ShockWave. Ce dernier fut l’un des piliers de la création du collectif CORIACE qui permit à YOM de rencontrer les musiciens qui allaient constituer le groupe ETHS.
Au sein de ce dernier (1999-2006), il joue sur quelques unes des plus prestigieuses scènes de France et d’Europe (les Eurockéennes, le Printemps de Bourges, le Hellfest, l’Olympia, l’Elysée Montmartre, la Loco, le festival de Dour…) enregistre 3 albums vendus, à ce jour, à plus de 50 000 exemplaires.
Durant cette période, il assure l’intérim derrière les futs pour Biocide (enregistrement d’un deux titres) et Tripod avec lesquels il apprend un répertoire d’une heure en trois jours et jouera à leurs côtés sur une dizaine de dates. Il assumera même un set d’une heure avec ETHS pour continuer dans la foulée avec Tripod (Rocksound festival). Il monte aussi un groupe pour le fun avec ses meilleurs potes, enregistre l’album et donne même quelques concerts : Bokaputa – Fat and Furious. Toujours en remplacement express, il dépanne, rythmiquement parlant, le groupe Watcha sur deux festivals.
Il participe, en 2007 à l’enregistrement du nouvel album de LUNATIC AGE, August the month of misfortune, et à la tournée qui suit. Il enregistre aussi quelques titres pour les groupes I-Burn (metal Irlande) et Khundalini (trip-hop France).
C’est durant ce laps de temps que nait le projet Really Addictive Sound. Un premier album et une première tournée (France, Irlande, Etats-Unis…) promettent un avenir certain à cette formation en devenir. YOM y mélange toutes ses influences (rock, Groove, punk, metal…) et apporte toute l’originalité et la dynamique d’un jeu qui ne cesse de se diversifier. Les marques Yamaha, Paiste, Remo et Vater lui affirment alors leur confiance alors que Google, Burton, Analog appuient le groupe dans son développement.
YOM, du haut de ses 33 ans, est toujours avide de nouvelles émotions musicales. Plusieurs projets sont déjà en prévision : album solo, projet 22, les prochains Really Addictive Sound et Bokaputa, batteur live pour plusieurs artistes, démos de batterie, participations à divers albums et projets…
