Guilt Trip are chainsaws and adrenaline, industrial-electronic-rock on fire.
Guilt Trip was formed from the band Chirurgie Esthetique in the early 2000’s. The shift in sound and attitude demanded a change of name.
The core of the band has always been Karl Lindberg and Magnus Nilsson. Their history dates back to the late 80’s when they started a collaboration after having worked with electronic music individually, finding a common interest in the heavier and darker side of the electronic scene of that era.
In the late 1990’s the two had moved to the Swedish capitol and there began what to them is known as the brap-sessions. These sessions led the band to discover new horizons and a new attitude towards music making and sound engineering, having always been somewhat anarchic it now turned towards controlled chaos.
The band also saw a shift in politics, from introvert soul searching to the thought of music as activism, the musician as shaman, liberator and accuser. As the music turned harsher and more direct so too did the lyrics. Categorically refusing categorisation they hold and define a category all of their own.
Musically situated in the in between. Yet there is a recognisable heritage ranging from pop, rock, industrial as well as metal. The album is to the brim filled with contradiction and resistance, urging a change in the individual, wanting liberation from preconceived ideas of behaviour and thought, all packaged in and delivered with some really great songs.
The bands live performances have always been received as being powerful and energetic, always searching for new ways to enhance the experience in limited ways the band is always a welcome sight amongst audiences.
